Very very few people on this board live in the blueish purple districts that give us the moderate GOP reps.

That may be true, idk.

Nonetheless, Republicans in SD can do better than Thune. Republicans in TX can do better than Cornyn. Republicans in UT can do better than Romney. Republicans in OK can do better than Lankford. And so on.

Yea screw being realistic. Let’s primary all these guys so that MAGA candidates can lose by double digit margins in districts that voted for Biden.

That’ll really show em.

When they're proven wrong, again, they'll just create another layer to the conspiracy.

There are only 5 Republicans that can likely be counted on here to hold their ground: Gaetz, Biggs, Crane, Rosendale, Good.

I expect the Speaker to cave eventually, especially with the shutdown looming. If he caves, Ukraine will go full throttle and the border will be ignored.

We have an Insurgent Class in DC and we are seeing treason in real time.

The insurgents can use a discharge petition to bring this to a vote. A few Republicans would be needed, to sign on with Democrats, to make this happen. I feel confident that will happen and we'll see more proof of open, overt treason being conducted by the Congress.

Some info on discharge petition
But lawmakers can "discharge" legislation that's been sitting in committee if 218 members, a majority of the lower chamber, sign a petition to do so, effectively bypassing the speaker to bring a bill before the full House for a vote.

"Discharge is generally the only procedure by which Members can secure consideration of a measure without cooperation from the committee of referral, or the majority party leadership and the Committee on Rules," a Congressional Research Service report from 2023 said. "For this reason, discharge is designed to be difficult to accomplish and has rarely been used successfully."

A House rule dating back to 1931 outlines the process. Any member can file a discharge petition with the House clerk, who then makes it available in a "convenient place" for members to sign.

A waiting period of seven legislative days kicks off once the petition gains the signatures of a majority of the chamber. After that, a member who has signed the petition can notify leadership that they'll bring the discharge motion on the floor.

The speaker must then designate a time for the motion to be considered within two legislative days. If a majority approves it, the House then moves to consider the underlying measure.

Speaker Johnson could ignore the petition, but there would be chaos if he did that. That said, it's the only patriotic thing to do if they discharge this from committee. Force a motion to vacate - force Republicans to endorse treason.

The “Border Deal” agreed to by the senate leaves The border remaining wide open with millions of illegal aliens streaming in.

And it would make this a law so the immigration continues until Mexico becomes a better place to live than America.

We are better off with no deal than this deal.

Got it. You don’t like it when we try to primary republicans who vote like democrats.

Just want to make sure everyone is on the same page, cause I really dgaf about the window dressing of a “majority” that is indistinguishable from a minority.

Or better yet, give them their war money and their “border deal” that lets millions of illegals in every year, and still fricking lose because you’ve alienated a base chasing moderates who were already on your side wrt immigration.

That’ll show ‘em.

They have less overlap with Democrats than the Democrats who win those seats. How is allowing the full DEM to win a positive thing for your side?

Talking point that doesn't exist in reality.

Mitch McConnell got us a flipped, 6-3 Supreme Court, tax cuts, and some reform of the regulatory state. These policy victories made actual Democrats melt. In what world are they "indistinguishable"?

You live in one of these districts? Or are you imposing your deep red south Louisiana ideology on constituencies you aren’t familiar with and clearly don’t understand?

Right. You’d rather replace someone who votes with the conservative agenda 80% of the time with someone who votes with the conservative agenda 0% of the time.

But they didn’t do literally everything we wanted!!!

Even though the Senate Republicans haven’t held a filibuster-proof majority since anyone on this board has been alive.

Whose 80% are we talking here? I can get on board with a ton of left wing shite, but signing onto a bill that allows 2MM illegals in annually and gives Dems a media “win” months before an election ain’t in my 80% ever.

Immigration is now polling #1 for all voters. For the first time, the majority of Americans want Trumps wall. Now is not the time to fold on the border.
This retarded SFP idea that republican voters want this bill and will punish us at the ballot box over blocking it is asinine and you know it.

I side with you on that generally. But just cannot stand the lack of pragmatism that is so pervasive here on WHY these guys vote the way they do. In many places, it’s the only type of “Republican” that can be elected.

And you take that, every single time, over a Democrat in the seat. I’m speaking mostly about the House of course. The Senate is a whole different deal, but unfortunately the MAGA wing has a habit of choosing incredibly poor and unelectable candidates like Lake or Oz for otherwise winnable purple state Senate seats.

Just win. That’s the goal. Nothing can happen without governable majorities. The stakes are too high for purity tests.

If we harvest vote for vote with Dems, we win. Immigration is our biggest advantage. Let’s keep it that way.

I never said that.

This is very possible. Moderates don't like disruption and government shut downs.

The DEM narrative that the Patriots/GOP caused this doesn't have to flip a majority of moderates, just 3-4% moving to the DEMs and the DEMs steamroll in November.

Exactly right. We can’t change it overnight but we can take a big step in the right direction this November.
