On a broad scale, what would be different?
I have seen nothing happen (or not happen) under Johnson that wouldn't happen (or not happen) under Jeffries.

He is the Speaker. You act like he is powerless.
He kind of is powerless. He has a weak speakership (like Kevin McCarthy) because he has a very slim majority due to the results of the midterm elections, which is the very same issue that Kevin McCarthy experienced as Speaker.
Because of that slim majority, any person that follows him is going to have just as weak of a position as Speaker, because you have this small faction that threatens a motion to vacate if everything is not done to their satisfaction, as it relates to working within reality (divided government). You have a Republican majority with 20+ seats, and you don't face this issue.
The nut bar wing of the party can't seem to grasp that their voice is a lot bigger than the actual votes within the entire Republican conference, and that the only reason why the majority of the conference has gone along with this charade is to preserve a Republican Speakership.

The GOP continues to be self destructive. Our "leaders" are divided in political beliefs and actions.
Trump's instincts will get us where we need to go but there are idiots on either side of Trump who will not join the team.
They refuse to win.

I think the biggest difference would be committee assignments

He faces a Senate controlled by the DEMs and a DEM President.
He has little power to do anything against that.
Then why isn't he talking about it? He's not under a gag order. Why can't he say "I'm against this, but this is what we have to do"
BUT he is happily going along with it, even promoting it as his preference.
That is not the same as what you are claiming is the situation.

I don't demand ideological purity. All I ask is that we not spend our country into oblivion, that we secure our borders and that we don't pass bills that squash the liberty of The American People. Apparently, this a$$hat can't do any of that.

But the democrat replacement you will get with Hakeem Jeffries will do that?

...very small

The republicans having control the house has been useless for years . Atleast the senate got the Supreme Court justices . The hardcore GOP should make the next speaker agree to work with them and not the democrats. Once the new leader works with the democrats he gets ousted .

How does he get those items through a DEM Senate and Biden?
The House has the power of the purse.
Just giving the senate/dems whatever they want is not leading.

So nothing except internal vanity jobs. Nothing that actually betters the country.
That is what you are missing. None of this matters if the same things are done regardless of who is in power.
If Johnson and Jeffries are going to vote the same way, then who gives a shite?

They can influence what bills come to a vote.

Why winning elections is the most important thing...not a shocking statement for a democracy.

And?
They have a messaging problem that they refuse to address.
If the House says we can spend X dollars and the Senate says we need Y dollars it isn't necessarily the House shutting down the government.

If it doesn't matter whether you elect a giant douche or a turd sandwich, why does winning elections matter except for those elected to steal money from us?

This is what happens to when you gerrymander districts to the point where they are deep red or deep blue.
You consolidate so much of one ideology within one Congressional district, where you don't allow for any wiggle room, which results in slim majorities.

As we can see, that doesn't mean much.
