While Senator Paul agrees with Trump rescinding the order on the grounds that it is unconstitutional, he is against deporting those who have benefited from the program — and doesn’t think it would ever happen in the first place. Therefore, the Kentucky senator has decided to try and pair a compromise with funding for border security and limits on immigration.

According to sources close to Paul, the senator is planning to introduce a bill or an amendment that will allow current DACA recipients to stay, but will subtract the number from the immigration limits for a number of years so that there is no net increase.

While many may immediately say this is unfair to those in line to immigrate to the United States properly, Paul’s plan would not allow DACA recipients to gain citizenship — they would simply be allowed to remain here and continue to work. Paul also believes that all welfare should be cut off for those who are not US citizens.

Well that seems reasonable.

I doubt any legislation gets passed by congress, and then everyone will complain when the 6 months has passed and DACA goes away.

What an a-hole

How can we expect to get the best and brightest over here if we are not offering food stamps, housing, medicaid, and disability?

Fine with that. Will be shocked if dems go for it, more than likely Rand's bill wilk just serbe as further proof positive that Trump is a neo-nazi white supremacist.

Thats not fair of me to say. I should have included GOPe in that prediction as well.

Looks like the only adult in the Senate doing what adults do and offering solutions.

Shocked that this came from Paul.
Shocked I say!

I would add no state or fed benefits, drivers license, scholarships, instate tuition, and a zero tolerance policy on crime. One strike and you're out...

Pragmatism in government, unreal...

Now, if only we see action from Congress...guarantee they shite the bed on this, though...

Also, there should be either a naturalization process,
Visa process
Or
Exit process...

I don't know because the numbers are there to make Paul's statement a non debatable subject. In 2016 illegals cost, not earned, the taxpayers anywhere from 100-107 Billion dollars.

You know how much we got back in taxes collected from the illegals - 1.27 Billion.

That's what you call losing, big time.

I disagree......not on what he's trying to do but HOW he's trying to do it.

A DACA Compromise and funding for border security are mutually exclusive. If fixing immigration is so important then why can't it be a stand alone bill?

I believe the biggest issues most have are those addressed by Paul. He can offer some more stringent wording dealing with the criminal element.

Everyone knows why DACA was written in an EO. It wasn't out of humanitarian purposes. It was a win the vote battle plan. Win over the hearts of the Hispanic vote and build more future dem votes. Sensible idea from Paul.

Solutions like this are the reason Rand Paul should be president.

He has more common sense than any of the GOPe or Trump.

(Readers of IB Freeman will recall the thread about ending welfare for non citizens)

Rand is always a man of reason surrounded by a swamp of stupidity and corruption.

I don't see how anyone could have a problem with this compromise.

Rand Paul makes very good policy suggestions 95% of the time. This is one of those times.

It will be ignored and if it does gain some traction it will then be demagogued.

The problem is Rand starts from a reasonable position. He needs to start from an somewhat outlandish position and negotiate to the reasonable position.
