Yes I would - but that's been the problem all along - they aren't. The Germans and Japanese have embarrassed the US workforce (and the Unions) by putting out superior stuff. What do they expect?

I don't necessarily shop for US-made products, but I usually go quality over price to a point.

When I worked in the auto business, I almost exclusively purchased Snap-On Tools because I couldn't take a risk on my shite breaking and leaving me without a way to make money because I wanted to save a nickel.

I'd prefer to purchase American-made products, but if I get quality from a foreign brand that's comparable and I can save a buck, I may do it.

My wife and I both drive Korean-built cars, but that's because she and I both worked for the Hendrick auto group for a bit and we got a good deal on cars that have good track records from our combined experiences.

Why do you feel the need to post shite like you have in a thread where everyone, except you, is being civil.

Just go away, no one wants to hear you drivel.

The American auto companies have greatly improved their products.

Yes, they have. Again, though, they're in a position of their own making, both in public perception as well as actual product performance.

Again, I have no real issue with Fords.

You're probably right, but do you think these components would be better if they were American-made? Electronics, traditionally, have been the foreign (particularly Asian) strong suit. All components like those will have some inevitable failures, either based on time or just the incidental defect in production. It happens.

Generally, yes, but there are some routine type products like paper towels in which quality is not that important and most people are simply shopping for the best price.

Nerve endings, not muscles.

TENS units are slightly different from EMS units.

Quality control has always been a huge problem with Chinese products.

See my earlier posts about the Toyota door lock motors. I think most people expect locks, windows and other electrical components of an auto to last more than 4 years. They should.

You're too ignorant to argue with. Sorry.

I'll discuss this with normal people. Bye.

You didn't attempt to do discuss it at all, you just started calling names and crying about it.

It's okay man. You'll be fine.

You're not wrong; they should. The reality, though, is that there are defects in manufacturing. The Chinese make iPhones (and most Apple products for that matter), yet they are some of the most reliable in their segments.

And by the way, I saw a figure recently on the number of defective components that most major car manufacturers allow per 100,000 pieces (if memory serves correct). Most brands' supplier contracts allow for 500 defects per 100k. Lexus (Toyota's luxury brand) allows only 50 per 100k. They are not consistently rated the most reliable brand on the road by accident.

Definitely. Lexus makes a great automobile, but they have the same electric lock motors as the Toyotas. I discovered this while researching how to fix mine.

Definitely. We all want to save a couple of bucks on something when we can.

Determining the price vs. quality factor is part of everyday shopping.

Unfortunately, many manufacturers are partly to blame for today's "throw away society" for producing inexpensive junk products that are cheaper to purchase than repair. It's good and bad.
