I heard that McConnell let K-street see the draft before it was shared with conservative republicans.

FYI, K-Street lobbyist are the people who write bills for congress so of course they knew what was in the bill prior to today. Senators and representatives are only salesmen. They don't write bills. They sell the bills lobbyists write.

Remember that.

That's why the "peoples" work rarely gets done in DC.

Big Pharma, Big Labor (unions), Big Corporations (U.S. CoC) and Big Ed (finance and delivery) all have stakes in ObamaCare. That’s a bazillion lobbying interests, representing massive institutional systems, containing trillions of dollars, all simultaneously dispatching their Big Gun Lawyer/Lobbyists to protect their financial position.

Unions don’t want health insurance back in/on their liabilities. U.S. CoC Multinational Corporations (Wall Street) don’t want the liability of worker health insurance back on their ledgers. Big Pharma does not want limits to how much they can charge (profits) and they want a small group of decision-makers they can purchase and influence. Big Ed doesn’t want government to lose control over college education subsidies. etc. etc.

Why do they have to wait? It is never mentioned. I'm thinking insurers don't want it in there. Keep competition away.

Not a democrat or republican anymore. I decided this past election not to vote for either party ever again because they are both shite.

That said, I think this bill is a also a load of shite. I also think insurance rates will rise if it is passed. But not because of the bill itself, but because insurance companies use any excuse to raise rates and not appear to be the bad guy.

This bill will be a convenient scapegoat for them if it passes.

You don't get to win an election after promising to improve something for 6 years and then fail to do so and think the country will blame the party not in power.

you can if the bill is so intertwined in our economy and health care industry that unwinding it is untenable

that's the problem with passing HUGE legislation

the GOP has done a masterful job with gerrymandering.

It is a reconciliation bill, which means it has to directly deal with the budget, not create new pieces of legislation.

But like I said on the other page, it isn't going to do anything.

It's a minor improvement over the status quo, but a massive wasted opportunity to do something meaningful. It is such a minor tweek that it can't even count as upholding their campaign promises to repeal this albatross. This is just a diet version.

I mean they did, hence all the lawsuits everywhere. But its not like Democrats wouldn't do the same damn thing and have in some states where they could.

They have to wait because they don't have 60 votes (although they very well could after the 2018 elections).

The content of this bill is constrained by the Byrd Rule: " What You Need To Know About Budget Reconciliation In The Senate."

well the VRA creates its own gerrymandering, but that doesn't apply to all states

i feel the USSC is going to say gerrymandering for political gains is OK and that's going to set the left nuts. they've telegraphed this after the utter failure was that the GA election this week (TONS of commentary about how the states draw districts) and the "Russian hacking" testimony (tons of commentary about states having control over federal elections)

i honestly don't see how anybody likes this

like i said in the other thread, this moves the crosshairs from the DEMs to the GOP. they're taking all the political liability from the disaster that is the ACA away from the DEMs. now any and everything wrong with the ACHA moving forward till sink the GOP

nobody's going to like this bill

this is not a step to repeal the ACA. it's just going to become it's own behemoth

how the GOP is going about passing the bill is terrible

When I was eating lunch today the TV was badmouthing the bill so hard I thought it was MSNBC. Then I looked up and it was Fox. Even they hate it.

That's what they want. Both parties want the non-compliants out of the party. They only want good compliant baws that don't rock the boat to maintain the status quo.

Get back in and rustle some jimmies. That's how you change things. Running away, not so much.

I mean that would just mean things stay as is. Right now that is the argument Republicans have been using like in the recent North Carolina ruling.

But this is all probably better for another thread.

Give em some time. It takes a while to draft a story. They will have people on script by tomorrow....Unless Trump tweets it is mean, then they might keep talking bad.
