Godspeed, young man.
That family has been through hell.
Here's hoping they find some peace.

Poor dude. Naïve snowflake; in way over his head. Pisses me off that our Government doesn't at least inform people like Him of the real risk they take in visiting NK.

This whole story is heartbreaking.

This angers me. This is an American life being lost solely due to NK.

I don't mean to speak ill of the dead and this is an absolute tragedy but I would say that curiosity and enthusiasm is what drove him into North Korea and got himself killed.

Being curious and enthusiastic is fine, it just has to be cautioned, regulated and limited.

My thoughts, prayers and condolences are with his family and friends.

Barring him never having gone to NK or him coming back unharmed, this is the best outcome for this family.

There are fates worse than death. Being maintained on machines and meds for about 20 years is horrendous for all involved. Those parents watching their son get old in a bed from the age of 22-23? Watching him get gray hairs, gray stubble, wrinkles all while he is bedridden with zero hope of improvement. In and out of hospitals for bladder infections and pneumonia every few weeks. A strong healthy body of 23 years old could hang on a LONG time with decent health care. And all cost the family millions.

Thoughts go out to that family. They can't possibly see it yet, but his passing was a blessing. The only thing that could bring them a good outcome is a time machine.

Very surprised that neither side of the aisle is making any uproar about this. They basically took a US citizen hostage, did God only knows what to him to the point that he was brain dead, then sent back his corpse a week before it caught up to his brain.

At least America isn't that bad to our enemies.

I am sure that was all discussed before he passed.

Glad in this case that a human was treated with as much empathy as we give our pets.
