I've never been around a family that chose to keep their loved ones alive on machines for an indefinite future. Thankfully I haven't been around a lot of young people that has happened to though.
We had that decision to make with my grandfather (relatively young and in good health), and it was made rather quickly.
We would have spent close to a million over the rest of his life ferrying him in and out of dialysis centers, palative care, ICU, etc. the quality of life was so poor, that we couldn't bring ourselves to do that.
That decision was out of my hands and I pray to God every day that I don't have to make that decision for anyone's life.

No. That's the reason he was imprisoned. North Korea killing him is the reason he is dead. Our previous President not raising enough of a stink about him being imprisoned for basically nothing is part of that.

The only reason he was released was because he was pretty much dead. If he was still healthy and in prison, NK wouldn't have even answered the phone.

This is bullshite regardless of your opinions to visit said country.
He visited a country as a tourist, which the country allowed.
Then the government proceeded to beat and torture him and send him back to die a week later.
