nah, you just aren't keeping up.

I was arguing the logic that simply because the budget was agreed to didn't address Antonio Moss' point and didn't eliminate that the deal was a bad one (in St. George resident's opinion).

How many representatives and Senators from EBR helped block the original SG ISD? I'd bet at least half of them, and the same group are banging together to stop the incorporation.

Then we have the mayor and at least half the council working against incorporation.

You don't think these people talk? You don't believe they work together?

You seem to clump the entire government of Baton Rouge in with the state legislature when making your points. Baton Rouge didn't stop the ISD. They don't have the authority to grant or deny that. The state does.

The political influence of Baton Rouge leaders is meaningful in obtaining support from the state legislature. This should be common sense given the very vocal opposition of BR leaders as it relates to the ISD.

You're speculating. Do you know how many people in the legislature there are? Are you saying that Kip has the entire state government in his back pocket? Lol

Regardless of what is "talked about", the votes are those of the elected legislators.

I'm trying to let people understand why SGeorgians want a chance to control their own schools.

I don't know what the future brings, but if people are concerned about revenues then that will not be an issue as things now stand.

If they change, then revenues will certainly change; however, while discussing revenues it does little good to emphasize whst might happen over what would happen if things stayed the same.

If St. George leaders and Baton Rouge leaders were on the same page with respect to the ISD, you don't think they could get it done in the state legislature?

Come on, man. I don't think you are even trying to be honest. Where would the opposition come from?

It's not common sense at all. You're speculating too. Being vocal about something doesn't change that the votes are those of the legislators.

And you are overstating the "political capital" of the Baton Rouge metro council lol.

I didn't say that.

But it's obvious to me that the SG movement is no longer a local issue because legislators around the state have gotten directly involved.

If it's unanimous and there's not negative impact on the state, then it would probably pass. Just because the metro council says "hey guys, we don't want this" doesn't mean the entire state legislature gives a damn.

As far as schools go, I agree they should be given their own district.

I even say give them their own city, but without the mall, Perkins Rowe, and casino.

Scotch or bourbon?

Why, are you buying ?

You shouldn't, save that coin, your taxes will have to go up to make up the 50 million dollar hole in the fair budget.

Still amazed you think the budget is unfair due to the revenue produce by areas that have never been associated with the school movement until recently.

Should the legislation make it to the governor's desk, his staff said this about the proposal: "We're watching the bill through the process, but we will support the local community in their efforts to decide what's best for them."

Your link is about a different bill, not the one in this thread.

I don't see why this is meaningful.

Why would you expect the ISD boundaries to be equivalent to the incorporation boundaries?
