It's a blatant political move from Obama
The progressive Christians will eat it up
The conservative Christians will act pissed
The jews will resume counting their money and not giving a frick
Rinse and repeat it all again next week.

Yeah atheists have pretty much cornered the market on faux outrage these days.

More surprising to me that Obama is having an Easter invocation than selecting a gay bishop.

It's always politics with this motherfricker.

Of course he isn't the first Christian leader, or even bishop specifically, to be gay. There are undoubtedly many bishops, priests, pastors, etc. who are gay in this country.
He's the first bishop to be openly gay to my knowledge though.
I don't care about any of that.
But he walked out on his wife and children to be with his partner. That should disqualify him from being a bishop, regardless of whether his dalliance is with a man or a woman.

I respect Obama about as much as the guy who cleans my neighbor's pool, but I approve of this troll job. Sure to make the ultra cons squirm.

What will Obama be celebrating on Easter Sunday?
Posted on 4/16/14 at 6:49 pm to GreatLakesTiger24
I'm sure our resident liberal atheists will be here to express their outrage against this horrible affront by Obama.

Picking an episcopalian minister to do anything relating to Christianity is essentially like randomly selecting a liberal arts professor. They're of the same mindset and political temperament.
Sorry we're more about loving your neighbor than harshly judging them and making them feel like they're abominations and hell bound.
Honestly, it was great growing up in a loving and accepting church. When I went to church with my best friend who was Baptist, I noticed over time that the church mentality here was much different from my own, in that it consisted of threats to sinners rather than the love and universal acceptance of Jesus. I always thought there was something wrong with that, and still think so to this day.

Haha, sure, if you mean departing from any theological purpose to act as a de facto social organizing advocacy organization.

Dude spent his whole life hating, especially the Right, and now he's enjoying sticking his finger in their eye every chance he can, dude definitely a M'fer..

I hope it is is exactly what you want, I just don't think there is a lot of theological strength there. Seems to be edging closer to a universalist approach.

How do you feel about John Edwards and Newt Gingrich? Would you vote for either of them (covering both parties here so political views won't be the dealbreaker)?

Honestly, I do have a bit of a problem with the gay bishop. Not because he's gay, but because he cheated on his wife, which I look as deplorable. Should have left her first, and then fooled around.
And I wouldn't almost under any circumstances vote for Edwards, and it would have to be pretty bad competition for me to vote for Gringrich.

The sooner Obama comes out of the closet, to quicker we can all move on.
