What prevents Trump from having this happen to him? Why did this happen to Obama?

2008 Obama - 69.5 millions votes (365 electoral votes), McCain - 60 million votes
2012 Obama - 66 million (332 electoral votes), Romney - 61 million votes

A lot of stupid fricks who idiotically voted for Obama wised up...but not enough to vote for Romney. Likely just sat it out.

Because the allure of the first black candidate was over. I also knew a ton of impressionable kids in college who voted for Obama in 2008 because they thought he was "cool" and changed their tune 4 years later after they figured out he was full of shite

You are over simplifying the vote count; it needs to be broken down by state, and especially by swing states. It could be that NY, CA, and IL did not show up in 2012 because Obama was guaranteed those electoral votes.

Enthusiasm for Obama was declining

Don’t really see Trump having an enthusiasm problem

Obama/ Biden shoved a new healthcare law through while lying that you can keep your doctor if you like your doctor and premiums would be no more than $2500. Also, they launched a failed website that cost more than Trump’s border wall

The total vote was less. That helped Obama even though he has less votes.

If the total vote is less in 2020 than 2016 that will help Trump also.

Biden has nowhere near the ground game Hillary had. She spent 4 years building her organization.

Trump is much more organized for his re election. (like Obama was)

Trump is no shoe in but he is still in a strong position.

The total vote was less for Obama. Romney got more votes than McCain.

Trump has no white guilt voters that were willing to vote for him once but not twice.

Too many whities in the first election voted for Obama as a lark, a joke, something to giggle about with your friends. They thought they were being cool, edgy, unique and they were white knighting the frick out of Obama because they thought doing so made them better than you. And then, like we all knew, the Emperor wore no clothes, and existed to serve only his self-preening smugness and to create division and anarchy. Many who gave him their vote were shocked, surprised, dismayed, disappointed and frightened of what they'd created, and so bailed on him against Romney, only......

...not enough bailed on him. Although, to his credit, Obama DID give us Trump. Had Romney won then, maybe Trump isn't the Republican candidate this year for President, or ever.

Thanks, Obama!

Trump had a virus from China fall in his lap reelection year that obviously isn't helping him.

Biden didn’t stare into the camera and implore people to vote because voter enthusiasm is going in his favor

Because people started getting fricked on their insurance premiums starting in 2011. The other reason was many of the people that were excited the first time around got lazy and didn't think they needed to vote the 2nd time. It's real easy when you say live in Cali and already know he is going to win those EV's to just sit home and not bother.

Yea, trump has a much lower approval rating than Obama when Obama was up for re-election.
For real, the amount of cognitive dissonance on this board after yesterday amazes me.

Obama lost 4 million people who were white guilting in 2008. The "shiny toy" aspect was gone.
