Semantics. They will still receive the same pay and allowances while on active duty regardless. However, the location will have to be deemed an Imminent Danger Pay (IDP) location for additional pay and allowances and tax exemption.

frick Africans!

God loves us, not them.

Also, we need to ensure the military only kills people. Saving lives is awful.

Instead of making snide comments. Please tell us how this is a good idea.

I can't find it. It was linked on Twitter and it'll take me all day to scroll through everything.

Appreciate the effort. Trust me, spouses are always upset when the SO deploys. Hard on the families. They are the true heroes.

The United States Marine Corp came up with a slogan to fight Ebola and per Military Daily News will use the mantra "Just What The Ebola Ordered" as a way to instill confidence in the military branch that the Marines will take out Ebola. The Obama Administration reportedly asked the USMC leaders to come up with a slogan to calm public fears.

Perhaps they should be sending in our biohazard boys, not one of the most elite combat units. Just the opinion of an untrained bystander.

I would imagine they are sending in ground troops to protect the specialists (and if we are building something some of those specalists are probably in the Guard) while they work. That is how things work and given the situation in that part of Africa you would be wise to put combat troops in place to protect anyone you send there. Otherwise your biohazard boys are libel to get shot at by some terrified villager who thinks they are spreading Ebola instead of helping.

Now, as I have said before, whether or not we should send anyone is open for debate. It would be nice to get this situation under control but the recent foulups in containing this have left me a little leery about putting more people in direct contact with it.

Whether it is Murphy's Law, marginally retarded soldiers, or some doofus officer, I can't imagine that one of them doesn't get Ebola and brings it back to the States.
