This commission does not have the authorization to do anything but request the data through regular means
No shite.

The fact that they sent a letter was an effort to use the guise of Federal backing to influence the states to do something they should not have to do.
What now asking for data is chilling as well?

I work with state voter files every day, and we paid for all of them like anyone else should—including Kobach
This doesn't concern your privacy issues?

That raises additional issues that people should worry about.
Unless I buy the data.

Well Pigimus is concerned, even though he stated multiple agencies have access to that data.

Haha, I am not concerned about this. It was the groups you mentioned in the OP talking about that, not me.

So you don't care if someone buys the data, you just don't want these guys to have the data.

But they did. The method is not to send a Federal letter to the states, it is to go through their election data divisions as an applicant.

Now you are being a dick. I never used the word chilling. That seems to come from your OP and that was not me. I am opposed to the current efforts on both sides as I said in my first reply.

No, because I have signed contractual NDAs and I know how/where the data are securely stored. Suffice to say the storage is not networked and locked in a vault.

Yes, you can buy the data as you see fit. It will cost you around $150,000 for all 50 states plus DC. That is not the point. The point is that an effort to fuzzy match and then possibly link to other federal records is a disastrous idea that I am betting when there is a power change in government you would not be in favor of.

What I want is irrelevant. They can buy the data, sure. They should also sign agreements with the states about what they can do it with like most states require. Now, if the question is do I think a bunch of partisans attempting to manage a national voter database that they store on a publically open military server the answer is no.

Ah so it's the process not that data that bothers you.

But i can buy it to include mailing labels.

How would you figure out if multiple voters voted in multiple states otherwise?

What is your area of expertise as it relates to "open" military servers?

Um do you have a link to this permanent managed database plan?

Why on earth would you think I am for a national firearms database? I own more guns than Paddock had in two houses and a casino hotel room. I even have bump stocks and a couple of suppressors.

I didn't, which is why I asked you the question.

Why would someone de-register from the voting roll if they were legally registered?

Because they were "chilled" by the very inquiry.

Why did you ask then? What about me telling you I am a Republican that hates the IRS and useless government overreach makes you think I want that sort of thing?

Thanks, seems odd I can buy your data, you know nothing about me, but you are concerned about someone else requesting the same data.

So now looking at voter rolls is illegal and potentially dangerous? It's fricking bizarro world.

"Potentially dangerous" in regard to the Liberal Illegal voter block for sure.
