A group of lawyers who served in former President Obama's administration has moved for a temporary injunction against President Trump's voter fraud commission, seeking to block it from accessing voter roll data from all 50 states.

quote:

"The mere specter of the Commission’s data-collection has caused thousands of citizens to de-register from their states’ voter rolls — an immediate blow to the proper functioning of our democracy," court documents filed by Protect Democracy read.

According to the group, the Trump administration violated federal law by giving the group insufficient time to mobilize the public against its actions. Court filings also warn that the voter roll requests "may increase the vulnerability of voter registration systems to hackers" and are having a chilling effect on legal voters.

So now looking at voter rolls is illegal and potentially dangerous?

It's fricking bizarro world.

Like this is an actual concern

The optics alone with them trying to block this thing will make people suspicious of even more voter fraud. Fraud that the dems know about.

Obama and his cronies all need to end up in Hell. And likely will. St Peter is NOT PC.

That doesn't sound like what someone would do when they want to know the truth about something.

They're definitely on to something to draw this sort of reaction.

Trump should double down.

How would they know this unless they had already dove into the data?

Never saw the regulations required an announcement ahead of the collection. Is this related to the Obama Admin. asking for advance notice before warrants are served on po' black folks and renaming an arrest record an intervention of some sort?

Additional court filings MAY contain the findings that pigs MAY fly too.

Twitter fodder!

Killing the DNC/MSM Political Compex agenda one tweet at a time!

Then, after death by a thousand tweets, Gorsuch rules 5-4 to allow investigations to move forward.

Who's to say that these "citizen's" de-registering from the rolls are not from the corrupt state officials panicking to purge the fake names and deceased from said rolls??

Lot's of Obamabots, so much for bipartisan.

quote:

United to Protect Democracy, which draws its name from a line in President Barack Obama’s farewell address that urged his supporters to pick up where he was leaving off, has already raised a $1.5 million operating budget, hired five staffers and has plans to double that in the coming months. They’ve incorporated as both a 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4), allowing them to operate as a nonprofit but participate in some forms of political advocacy as well.

quote:

They’re also hoping to establish themselves as a base for government employees worried about ethics violations — up to and including becoming whistleblowers — and are hoping that their website, https://unitedtoprotectdemocracy.org/,can become a resource.

quote:

Bassin was an associate White House counsel during the first three years of the Obama administration, spending much of his time working on ethics questions such as what’s known as the agency contact rule, meant to prevent politics and favoritism from influencing independent agencies

quote:

Jesse Lee, who was Obama’s White House director of rapid response, is also on board as communications director and Caroline McKay, a former legal assistant in the White House Counsel’s office, is managing operations. But they’re also coming with a huge network of support from other Obama lawyers, as well as partner organizations like the Brennan Center.

quote:

Bassin “has managed to gain the support of a lot of very serious people,” said Karen Dunn, another former associate White House counsel best known for helping run debate prep for Obama and Hillary Clinton, and called her former colleague the “perfect person for this particular organization at this particular moment.”

If you're a dem, your best play here is to appear as transparent and cooperative as possible. Make Trump's commission look like they're chasing ghosts looking for non-existent fraud.

This is dumb obstruction from them, and greatly undermines their case.
