Ya know its so easy for us to sit in judgement of the Cops, but they must feel like they have a very good reason to do what their doing. As for as them turning their backs, the family supported them doin this.

Just speculation but I suspect the family was informed and supported the action.
You have to lack a certain amount of class to even think of a formal protest at a funeral against a person the family OK'd to speak. Further, the fact that the hundreds of police officers didn't demand their "brothers" pull down political signs like "Dump DeBlasio!" shows a little more insight.

Of course, even insinuating that the mayor had any responsibility for some crazy from another state or that his comments were at all inflammatory is ridiculous.

Is there any evidence that the killer ever heard the few comments from the mayor or could pick the mayor out of a lineup? Or are we relying on some sort of "butterfly effect"?

Please cite what you know regarding the following:
- what are the families' opinions of the gesture?
- who paid for the funeral?

Funerals for NYPD, NYFD, are take care of. I am not certain if the city pays directly or if there is a fund with the union that is funded (partially?) by the city. Officers volunteer their time.
As for the family's opinions, I don't believe anyone has offered a solid link on the subject. I just think it is in poor taste to want to do it before the family comes into play. If the family called for it, it would be a different situation.

No, it's not. Cop hater Dinkins = crime.
Cop supporter Guliani = Much less crime.
Cop hater DeBlasio = crime returns.

The union warned DeBlasio that cops would be killed before the killing occurred. They were right. DeBlasio was wrong.

That's pretty much what a police union does. Advocate for salary and benefits and scream that police officers are going to die whenever a change in policy is made they don't want or when a criticism is leveled at them.

The family said they welcomed DeBlasio, according to Fox News and every other news source.

Id love to know what your source is other than that you made it up to fit your pro-government narrative.

They welcomed the mayor. I provided a source. You cops just make each other look even more ridiculous on these forums.

Would you invite somebody to your son's funeral if you disliked them and wanted others to make a political statement by disrespecting them?

What is YOUR source?

The NYPD is over 50% minority, closer to 60% if I am not mistaken. So is it the 40% white cops who are the bad guys? Yea, OK.
