The National Health Institute begs to differ.
The NIH isn't the only entity capable of funding research.
You are comparing PHD students to the CDC.
Apparently you're unaware of the fact that PhD students do original research. A dissertation has to be good enough that it would, in the opinion of the review committee, qualify for publication in a legitimate academic journal. In fact, it's a common practice to seal a thesis or dissertation for a year so the student can use it to advance his or her own career.
So in this case, it's a valid comparison. A PhD student can do the research on this question.
Like everything else, it takes money and when that money is controlled by gun lobbyists, kiss your research goodbye.
Again, you seem to be laboring under the delusion that the ONLY way for research to be done is for the federal government of the United States to fund it. There is no research money at all in other countries, at the state or local level, or from private foundations?? You can't possibly be that dense.
Agains, it costs money.
Not really. If you have an Internet connection, access to a public library, and a few like-minded people helping you, you can EASILY do research on this topic for chump change. Even if that weren't the case, you could hit up a liberal foundation or activist group for the money. Or you could get a state like New York or California to bankroll the research.
Instead, you just want to sit around playing victim and pointing fingers at everyone else for your own failures.
