In order to correct this, we must no longer see housing primarily as a financial instrument or investment vehicle, but as a basic human right.

I swear people have trained their brains to be blind to anything that requires work or responsibility.

I look at it as a right in the same way that owning a gun is a right. I'm ok with it so long as you're paying for it as an individual.

Re-packaged Communism. I think we are seeing a lot of this get traction because Millennials are mostly too young to remember the Soviet Union.

There will be a point in the future of Western civilization where the concept of what we are entitled to comes crashing down in epic fashion. I hope it does not happen in my kids lifetimes.

What’d that short haired communist girl say? Something like “when they give us an inch, we will take a mile”

Healthcare was just the beginning.

Or what you've imagined in your head to be your opposition. Unfortunately it's very far removed from any reality.

1. Many homeless don’t want this “right”.

2. Decades ago, the mentally unstable among the homeless (and it’s a significant percentage) were provided this “right” via involuntary commitment to mental facilities. Shortly after our federal government did away with that, we got a big homeless problem. Not a coincidence.

And you forgot a little "walkin' around money". What good is a house and a car if you don't have money for gas or a good tv and stereo system??

You really think this is what they are thinking? FYI, both of these writers are big fans of Canada’s recent 40 billion investment into building more public housing and subsidized rent.

FYI, I’m not against public housing for people that really need it. I just see too many people on welfare driving a new cars and owning $600 cell phones. I am a big fan and active volunteer for habitat for humanity.

If you read the article, almost all of the most unaffordable cities have land use REGULATION.

I remember seeing a piece on London. All of the new buildings being built in London are bought by the Chinese, Japanese, Arabs, etc. as investments and never occupied. As a result, the citizens of London are being forced to move far out of the city. In addition, the lack of places to live then drives the housing costs up even more.

If cities love regulation so much, maybe they would put laws on the books forcing buildings to be some minimum percentage of occupation or face huge fines.

Many of the top cities were in California. That is just one of the reasons that people are fleeing from California in droves.
