Did you read that article?

Directly from the author:

"I thought to myself, It must be hard not to take it easy on the president."

Read that again.

Pf course you being so brilliant and non partisan you see it differently than everyone else did at the time.

Numbers showed that 51% felt Biden actually won the debate, but I imagine they aren't nearly as moderate as yourself. Palin may be far from national political material but that doesn't speak well for Joe.

Ryan will destroy him.

Huh? So?

Like I said, I don't know anyone who "worships" Obama. Or idolizes him or anything like that.

What? You mean I'm with the 51%?

Could be. The people I know who are voting for him are not overly enthusiastic about him. They actually think he misused his political capital.

Do they just feel he is the lesser of the two evils? Or the slightly better than the other but not what they want?

So?

Okay, let's try this. You think a writer who says:
quote:

It must be hard not to take it easy on the president
is gonna disclose anything damaging to the guy he's covering? Especially after he already subjugated himself by offering to clear any quotes through the administration?

That's PR. That's not writing.

She actually didn't do badly in her debate with him

Couple of things here. First, that debate was one odd scenario. Gwen Ifill, the moderator, was in the process of writing a book basically anointing Obama as the divine messiah incarnate. How she was assigned, then accepted the moderator gig under those circumstances is baffling. When she was called on it, i.e. embarrassed, humiliated, made a fool of, she acted dumbstruck that anyone would call to question her neutrality.

As if to prove the point, she slanted most of the debate questions to Palin. Had Palin and Biden been equally competent going in, Palin would have beaten him badly given the skew.

As it was, the debate was a draw or went slightly to Biden.

So, you don't know anyone in the leg tingling, genuflecting, Press Corps?
OTOH, you mustn't know any working class or impoverished blacks either?
In fact I'd say the latter are well within rights idolizing the first black man to attain top office in a First World country. Wouldn't you?

The "take it hard on the President" is a reference to not playing too rough against him on the basketball court so the secret service doesn't haul him off to jail.

It doesn't refer to how "hard" a reporter writes about him.

It was about playing basketball.

To be honest, it's been long enough so that I don't remember all of the details clearly. Obviously, it didn't stick in my craw.

I know a couple of people in the press, but that's hardly how I'd describe them.

OTOH, you mustn't know any working class or impoverished blacks either?

But I do. They are, for the most part, rightfully proud and gratified that Obama won election. I've seen no evidence, however, of "worshiping" or "idolizing" him and certainly no desire to "fellate their own manufactured caricatures of the man".

I suppose it could be some of either. Or a political philosophy that is more in line with Democratic Party (in spite of the fact that moderates in both parties seem to have lost their influence).

I think Obama's human. So what.

Lot's of bad people are "human" and have typical human frailties.

Obama is a VERY bad person.

Fixed. No one is looking for excuses at this point. We're looking for performance.

Terrible article and very disappointing coming from Lewis...comes across more as a starstruck fan than a critical assessment of Obama.

I think Romney wins the electoral and Obama the popular vote.

I suspect "fellate their own manufactured caricatures of the man" was hyperbole. Just an educated guess though.
