Launched a satellite for the NRO a few minutes ago.

I am sure that it will assist us in ridding this vile country of it's greatest threats!

I find it interesting that it's universally being called a 'spy' satellite.

No one is even trying to hide or deny it, huh?

So, who is getting spied on? Russia? China? NK?

Average US citizens?

I think it’s to spy on Liechtenstein.

NRO hasn't usually kept spy satellite launches secret (at least not all of them). They usually admit when they launch one, but they never give details of what the satellite can do.

Supposedly they have satellites up there with mirrors much larger than James Webb's mirror.

Cite? Because I find that tidbit of info extremely hard to buy into.

ULA has kept afloat launching NRO missions. SpaceX is just getting a piece of that pie.

Every NRO mission is a “spy” mission. They are the National Reconnaissance Office. If it’s not spy satellites it’s the X-37 Space Plane (mini shuttle)

Maybe it's the media just dropping all pretense? Seems there used to be some paper-thin attempt to at least pretend there was some non nefarious reason, even if everyone knew or suspected otherwise.

Maybe I'm reading too much into this. Maybe I'm thinking the MSM isn't really capable of low key throwing shade on Elon by slyly calling it a 'spy' satellite.

The launch agencies are pretty nonchalant about NRO missions now. SpaceX always does a live stream of their launches and notifies the public when it is for military reasons by not showing separation of the payload.

Wrong, and not even close. SpaceX probably isn’t even in the top 50 for DoD. NASA is another story.
