I'm not willing to concede that blacks would never vote for Rand, but even if I did for the sake of argument, the outreach isn't worthless. Thinking it is overlooks the fact that voting for him isn't the only way to help Rand. If he can make someone ambivalent about him so that they just stay home instead of voting for his opponent, that's a win.

all he has to do is skim a small percentage of each - 10 percent more African Americans, 15 percent more hispanics, and 10 percent more women and he has a landslide. The Democrats problems with white men will be more shockingly apparent.

I don't mind him trying, and if anyone can make a successful case it's him, I just think Hispanic outreach would be more useful. Like I said though, that's really hard without stepping on immigration reform landmines that would set off the right. Maybe he can make a difference with young blacks who haven't made their minds up yet, but he wouldn't see the benefits in future voting behavior.

It's the GOP brand. It just isn't minority friendly.

There are reasons why blacks and women perceive the party as hostile to them, and they can't be boiled down to irrationality.

Meanwhile, the compassionate party continues to perpetuate policies which leave women and minorities, and especially women minorities, in terrible situations. They roll into these communities every four years to talk about how much they care, then disappear for the next four years until they need something again. It's all so progressive.

You're intellectually dishonest if you pretend that comments like these aren't typical for this board and many others whenever the subjects of women and minorities come up.

Right. Some dumbass believes a few random comments are representative of "this board."

"This board" isn't DU or The Daily Kos. It's open to everyone. Looks like you have a problem with stereotyping.

Assuming you're currently a republican, do you find yourself overcome with a passion to join the democrats and just need a reason to switch parties?

I'm not a Republican, but I do look for a candidate that I agree with. I can't imagine having a passion to be in a certain party

The language of dominance.

Back on topic though.

I think the GOP should aim to persuade minorities to live in economic slavery by incentivizing lazy life styles. Seems to work for the democrats.

i am still curious how the politicians saying they don't want the government to fund things like abortions and BC is somehow a "war against women"
