He will lose if he runs against Clinton.

Poor people will never vote for someone who is white, male and rich. Not for someone who in their mind has no idea what it's like to struggle. Not when there is a minority or female on the ballot in opposition. No matter how cool Paul may try to be. You think an average lower middle class citizen gives a shite about drone attacks or NSA wiretaps? They worry about their power being cut off, meals or losing their home.

If that's his platform he has already lost. Also, Obama didn't legalize drugs and neither would Rand Paul, so hopefully he doesn't go to that BS line thinking he will fool the idiots that actually believe a president alone can do such a thing.

IMO, the honest question is do minorities care about things like the NSA, privacy rights, 2A rights, things that most conservatives and libertatians care about.

Probably not. But they do care about the War on Drugs, forfeiture, a broken criminal justice system, and police corruption. Those are serious problems and minorities take the brunt of them.

Reining in the police state is a good message.

FTR I would probably vote for Rand if he were the GOP nominee.

I'll believe it when i see it. Once the campaign starts (if he's the nominee) you'll succumb to the attacks from the left, label him an 'out there weirdo like his dad' and vote for Hillary.

White, female, and much richer would get their vote?

I've seen enough to form an opinion. Like I said I'll believe it when I see it.

In this case, yes.

Did you really have to ask that?

It's the GOP brand. It just isn't minority friendly.

Assuming you're currently a republican, do you find yourself overcome with a passion to join the democrats and just need a reason to switch parties?

Probably not...

Why would a democrat feel differently?

It is what it is.

What did I say that isn't reality?

What did "Latin Bush" have to do with anything I said?

WTF, Bro?

Precisely what will happen. Some of the left like Rand because he causes the establishment a bit of angst. When he's up against the Dem, they'll turn on him like they did Ron.

Three posts in the thread about how women are irrational and one "blacks gonna black."

Yep, minorities and women sure are crazy for thinking that the GOP doesn't care about them.

Yep some poster on a message board represents the whole party. You nailed it.

You're intellectually dishonest if you pretend that comments like these aren't typical for this board and many others whenever the subjects of women and minorities come up. These posts don't represent the entire party, and I never said they did, but they do represent the views of a substantial number of people who consider themselves Republicans. There are reasons why blacks and women perceive the party as hostile to them, and they can't be boiled down to irrationality.

Outreach to blacks is probably worthless, but Hispanics can be reached IMO. I don't know why Rand isn't doing more of that. I guess he doesn't want to touch immigration, which really limits the GOP's Hispanic outreach. Maybe he can find a way, but total opposition to a path to citizenship is extremely limiting.
