Donald Trump's former vice president, Mike Pence, is calling Trump's latest statement on his abortion policies "a slap in the face to the millions of pro-life Americans who voted for him in 2016 and 2020." "Today, too many Republican politicians are all too ready to wash their hands of the battle for life. Republicans win on life when we speak the truth boldly and stand on the principle that we all know to be true - human life begins at conception and should be defended from womb to tomb," Pence wrote in a post on Monday on X, formerly Twitter.

Trump may win the election, but the Republican Party is a straight up embarrassing tire fire.

You don’t fold on your principles and morals especially on this magnitude of what you believe to be right and wrong just because “a majority of America supports abortion” (ofc this is all dependent on how the question is posed). You keep upholding them and attempting to sway others to them

Mike,

Forcing a national "solution" to abortion in 1973 hobbled this country. Forcing another one will destroy it.

I'm no Trump fan, but Pence making comments suggesting an absence of loyalty or conviction about Trump is pretty f'ing rich.

And what in the world would make anyone think Trump is opposed to abortion? Isn't it well-accepted that he paid for several?

He doesn't get it.

You don't give up on life.

You adjust tactics to state by state combat and play the long game.

Did Mike "GOPe / Trump admin mole" say the same about the USSC when they ruled abortion should be decided by state legislation?

Gee. Another RINO trying to sabotage the election. State rights is the way. I do not want force on me nor do I want to force California to bend their knee.

The media are probably tripping all over themselves trying to spin this as something positive for their side.

I understand Pence not liking Trump's abortion position but good lord, is he really in a position to whine about face slapping in the Trump/Pence relationship??

You do if you're a populist. Trump is a populist.

Exactly. Trump played this well.

Pence and Miss Lindsey don’t give a damn about abortion. They just want it to be a national issue again which plays into the Dems hands. Besides, those two love war. No one can say they stand on principles. That’s a laugh.

If Republicans try to force a federal ban on abortion they are going to lose a lot of elections for a very long time.

That's not the hill to die on; leave it to the states.
