This is the right answer. However, it probably doesn't help the Dems that much in the midterms.
McConnell said they were going to work on a bipartisan solution (gasp) if this didn't pass.
There likely will be no repeal. There will be fixes to Obamacare...which is what they should have been doing for the last 7 years.

Voting no to proceed isn't a final no. The House didn't have the votes either... until they did. Mitch can still thread the needle with pork and sops like more opioid relief.

Time for full repeal of #Obamacare--let's put the same thing on President Trump's desk that we put on President Obama's desk
Mark Meadows is in The House, not the Senate.

And Trump said "We will immediately repeal and replace ObamaCare - and nobody can do that like me. We will save $'s and have much better healthcare!"
You see this is where you make this YOU vs TRUMP!
A full repeal is a win, if not better than a replace!
You just went full retard bro!

Not at all. I'm happy as a pig in shite to do a full repeal.
As a conservative it's all I could ask for.
Thanks for caring tho

The insurance/tax mess that they are falsely labeling as "healthcare" is an incredibly complex issue with no easy solutions.
That is what a 2700+ page bill with 10 times that number of pages of regs will get you.
Obama care was intentionally this way. To be so insidious and woven into areas no one expected (or even appreciates) so that to unwind it would be impossible.
There has never been a "fix" to this.
They should just repeal it lock, stock and barrel. Revert back to 2009 healthcare system. Pass law to address THAT system (including 100% deductibility of insurance premiums).

They'll never do this, because of the incalculable harm it will cause to Americans.

You are pathetic.
You would think that cars couldn't move because of all the dead bodies in the street before Obama care passed.

Lookie there - Lee and Moran. NYT agrees with your assessment:
quote:
WASHINGTON — Senators Mike Lee of Utah and Jerry Moran of Kansas declared Monday night they would oppose the Senate Republican bill to repeal the Affordable Care Act, for now killing a seven-year-old promise to overturn President Barack Obama’s signature domestic achievement...
With four solid votes against the bill, Republican leaders were faced with two options: Try to go back and rewrite the bill in a way that could secure 50 Republican votes, a seeming impossibility at this point, or do as Senator Mitch McConnell, the Republican leader, promised and team with Democrats to draft a narrower, bipartisan measure to fix the flaws in the Affordable Care Act that both parties acknowledge.

How will they get the votes?
A full repeal wouldn't work under the rules of reconciliation so it would require a full 60 votes in the Senate. which would mean convincing some Dems to repeal Obamacare.
I don't see that happening.

That would be a correct statement. ACA is not causing incalculable harm.
In fact, it's the cause of much more good than harm at present.

bingo the first poster on here to get it.
now add the political damage
now add the midterms are 1 year away
never fricking happening.
The current attempts at piecemeal repeal and replace of the the ACA using reconciliation is nothing more than a way to sneak past the budget voting constraints. A full repeal requires 60 votes.
