Get those guys THE frick out of that shithole region!!
Agreed. but not because there is no pussy there.

They are young men placed in a sexually repressed region for the most part. The few female Marines in these areas must be hit on incessantly. And that is if they aren't receptive. If they are receptive to any advances??? Good God, I can't even imagine. Add internet and snap chat pics to that?
Oh they are receptive. It's a dick buffet for them. Families destroyed over this STUPID mixed gender bullshite all the time. The problem here is that DOD policy has forced female integration where none is needed, and unit readiness is impacted heavily. It also costs more. These Marines were wrong in most if these cases, but their commanders and leaders were wrong too.

Women ARE going to be in the Military. That is not going to change.
Not with that attitude it isn't.
Have you ever posted an explicit picture of someone without their consent?

It isn't a social agenda imo. It's giving women who want to serve an easier pathway in because they want to serve. I see your point, but I think it's more about accommodating those servicewomen than it is about accommodating society.
Because nothing screams equality like making it easier for one group to have it easier than another.
Which goes back to my example with the study...
How does that play out in combat? Which unit will take more casualties, the male or coed units, based on this study?

Do women get assigned to the exact same positions men do? And by that I mean can a woman be assigned to every single job a man can in the Marines?

quote:It is punishable and I can promise you that will happen.
But you make it punishable and you punish the parties that wronged the women
The real issue is that this will never go away. The presence of women does more harm than good. Issues like this and many more exist solely because of the presence of women. You can have women in and just accept things like this and fraternization and pregnancies and health issues that affect combat readiness and discipline in general or you can just go to the root cause and get rid of those issues all together.

Women were allowed to join the military in WWI. That's 100 years ago. You're blaming a policy that existed AGES ago.
They weren't being raped in WWI
They weren't being raped in WWII
They weren't being raped in Korea
This is a modern era problem.
Do me a favor.
Post one photo of a woman in combat from any of those conflicts.
Just one.

Historically, no. That changed under Mabus and was the genesis of that study.
Recently yes. Women can now join all MOS across all branches AFAIK.

Three WM's were assigned to the First Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment some weeks ago.
1 is an 0311 rifleman
1 is an 0341 mortarman
1 is an 0331 machinegunner

They were there, just not photographed.
The very best soldiers they were.

I was not aware that was the case. Personally I don't think women are as effective as men would be in frontline combat situations, but if they pass training and psych evaluation then I don't see why they should be held back. If that is the case, then I would also agree that PFT standards should be equal for men and women.

I could maybe get on board with some sort of women's auxiliary to be nurses and administrative specialists.
I read through the whole thread and that post made me stop and laugh out loud.
Women can't even be doctors- just nurses and secretaries.

You do realize this isn't going to be enough, right?

More importantly.. people can't understand why these Marines are engaging in criminal behavior
