I think the concert was supposed to serve as a symbolic gesture--not necessarily a fundraiser.

Family members don't have a monetary value but when they are injured or killed there is a financial burden on their remaining family. If the money raised can help with that I don't see why it would be seemed by any sane person as a bad thing.
