That just seems empty.

I don't lose sleep over it, though. I find plenty of meaning and happiness in life, despite the suspicion that in the grand scheme if things nothing I do in life has transcendent significance.

I don't think this is an entirely wrong POV, tbh.

I also am not very preoccupied in general with wondering what my overall purpose in life is. I'm a Christian, but I believe wholheartedly in making the here and now count for me and my loved ones.

Well yeah, if God doesn't exist, then universal objectivity doesn't exist. That's basically the definition of God (any god). Moreover, in our tangible universe we very clearly do not have anything outside our subjective human experience, even the religious will acknowledge this.

But I think there are a lot of reasons to wonder if there's not some overall meaning to our existence as a species. Humans are special even within the scientific confines of evolution.

Great!

But wait I thought this was a scientific question. Why do you even mention whether or not you're okay with it? Especially when I've made very clear that I'm not religious.

As far as the answer to WHY?

"There is no reason" is as much a conclusion based on zero evidence as "Jesus is the reason."

The scientifically honest answer is "I don't know." And the scientifically curious approach is "I want to find out."

Jews have the wailing wall.

Muslims murder hundreds of thousands because of poverty, so says your dear leaders.

Religion is man's attempt to reach God and is filled with error and failings.
True Christianity isn't about religion at all, but God reaching down to man and offering us a way to escape our own inadequacy.

This was quite predictable. You can add...life for women worse now than under Sadaam...etc.

I'm sure if this were a rabbi and a population of Jews his response would be similar to this pastors. I think you are reading too much into this.

He truly is.

His positions have been repeatedly demolished by facts and logic, and yet, he continues to conduct his own little info war pushing the same debunked leftist crap that he learned years ago.

He possesses absolutely no mental agility, proven by the fact that his positions on every issue have not evolved one iota from the debunked dogma that he learned years ago.

His brain is like a Stone Tablet that's etched with a half-dozen Leftist talking points.
