I don't give a rat's arse about Landrieu and the IRS. Monday morning I'm sending a check to the U.S. Treasury that would make you choke. You don't see me bitching and moaning like a baby.

So when you describe it as a check that would make someone choke, that isn't bitching or moaning?

Link?

I've posted this before.

I think she knows she's in trouble.

Why one earth would she vote to confirm Debo Adegible the guy who not only defended Mumia Abu Jamal, but who attended and participated in rallies for him? Of course that was his right, but she has to know that would not go over well with her constituents.

Oh good, so you'll have no problem with a GOP Senator inquiring through the IRS about your political activities and donations. And you'll have no problem being audited, or fulfilling demands by 17 or so entities of the Federal Government, just because you decide to become active in Leftist organizations, will you?

That's good to know.

Since that request was received by the IRS nearly one year ago, IRS Tax Law Specialists Robert Thomas and Denise Higley have asked for more time to fulfill the request six times.

So what would it take to get these documents immediately? Do they need to sue for their release?

My point isn't to impress anyone. My point is that I truly suspect that this specific alleged "corruption" in the IRS that's being discussed doesn't affect me or anyone on the board.

Translation:

I'm one of the few voting Democrats in the US that actually has to pay federal taxes. Due to this circumstance, I am bitter, even though I claim not to be.

Since my party is in power, I am perfectly fine with them abusing their power to destroy my political enemies. After all, if this one Democrat (me) has to actually help monetarily support the disaster I have voted for, then I feel all of my fellow citizens that I view as enemies, should be treated the same. Make them pay for their sins.

Now if this was a Republican administration, I'd have a whole different like of thought. I would also encourage you have a different line of thought as well.

WTF am I reading here. Oh yes the "if it doesn't directly affect you" you should shut the frick up defense. This is typically used by Odrama lovers when the Bush did it too defense won't work.

No it doesn't affect you, just the right.

When the IRS was targeting conservative groups seeking tax exempt status for special scrutiny, they demanded the list of donors supporting those groups in 17 cases. Despite assurances from the agency that the lists had been destroyed, a search requested by Congress revealed that at least 3 lists had survived.

And of the donors on those lists, fully 10% of the individuals had been audited.
The rate of audits for ordinary Americans is about 1%.

WOW!!!! Reminds me of this quote about the Nazis

Hell, 81...they've virtually thrown out what used to be 'due process' up there; just a matter of time before they ignore subpoenas, or Obama promises pardons...up front.

But like somebody points out, once these lines are crossed, and respect for Law is lost...then ANY Administration has carte' blanche. And the MSM can squeal like stuck pigs...but their hypocrisy will come back to bite them in that arse.

I fear that the bigger problem is neither Obama or Landrieu, or that pack of 15 sellouts that would corrupt themselves and us power on their opponents that they would NEVER condone being used on them...but it is more so that of the Big Government mechanism becoming a power in and of itself.

The people that man those jobs are going to cya every single time. They will - by psychological default, especially in this job-insecure time - vote for whatever Party promises to secure and reward their Constituents. And we all know which Party is the Big Government Party.

The problem is, that as the power of *Government* becomes less respectful of Individuals (think the VA, right now), or even and especially of Individuals (groups) who OPPOSE Government (Tea Party), then *Government* will have no respect for the rights of ANY individual. Even those who now support Government because it pays them too...will come late to the party when or if Government goes rogue to the point that we all go under the bus.

The antes are getting higher. Year to year. Fascinating.

Thanks to them who back my OP up with appropriate supporting Links, etc. I love working together with the Poliboard brethren. We may not be able to keep this thing from going where (historically) it usually goes when lies are substituted for honest political dialogue and due process of Law...but at least we'll be able to understand the why of it. And if we do live beyond this life...we'll take that Knowledge with us. "what is bound on Earth, is bound in Heaven" (biblical). Sorry...just had to do it.

You honestly don't have an issue with a government entity using their power to attack political opponents? You really don't see a problem with that?
