By whom? Not sure what he is saying is anywhere close to what you were saying. You think you can stop any and all information from getting to your kids. You are delusional. He is actually right.

You really believe children freely choose to go to church?

Indoctrination is indoctrination.

Clown, I ask you once again to justify your dumbass no sequitur concerning parents exposing their children to private religious teachings. Otherwise get the hell of the internet with your conflating governmentally coerced indoctrination of youth with parents choosing who and what teachings their children are exposed to. Just like an idiot lib to bring the argument that government and parents have the same responsibilities.

But not King's message about equality for all and judging people on the content of their character?

Certainly I would teach that along with the other good things King preached and spoke about. No question.

The Jim Crow stuff should come later when she is older. Same with the Holocaust, Indian issues, etc.

I didn't take it that way. I took it as the OP thought the subject matter was over their heads.

Am I overreacting or is this in appropriate stuff for 5 year olds. Things I now have to explain way before I had planned.

It's never too early to tell your kids about the horrors of government.

Kids this young have to be taught differences in races. If you left them alone, they would view every other kid as being just like them.

This is straight up attempting to ingrain white guilt while kids are ver impressionable. Not appropriate at all

I wouldn't say it's inappropriate but I don't think children as young as 5 have their mental faculties developed enough to actually think about the issue rather than repeat what is told to them.

This is unquestionably the case. It's inappropriate subject matter for 5 year olds. Period.

I wasn't talking about the OP there. It was in response to a different post.

What if the kids they are teaching it to aren't white? I'd argue it is teaching kids about the potential evils of govt

Yes, you are overreacting.

My kids were taught about MLK at the ages of 2 and 3 at their Montessori school. MLK's message is a great way to start teaching kids about unity at an early age.

As long as the teacher doesn't add their political slant to the story, it's all good.
