No, I'm serious. You literally are not physically capable of controlling what your kid hears from other people unless you are around them at all times. It isn't possible. You don't control what other kids say to them at school. You don't control what teachers say to them at school. This isn't an approach. This isn't an opinion. This is basic social interaction.

I'm guessing that conservativewife wishes that the teacher had talked up the free outdoor showers and pet therapy a little more.

The government sends land owners a bill. Land owners pass that bill on to their renters. You can argue all you want but it isn't free. It is paid for by the tax payer and the landlord passes some of that cost on to renters.

That's why a lot of people homeschool.

I've seen it work out a time or three. But boy have I seen it go sideways.

If you choose to put your children in public school and you care at all about what they are being exposed to, it is your obligation to keep abreast of what's happening in school, what they're hearing and learning, and expressing your disagreement as needed, to teachers, principals, other parents. Being a sheep is not a choice!

Five years old seems a bit early for them to really understand. I don't remember learning about MLK before the third grade or so.

And as said before, it really is a great speech.

You can absolutely express disagreement. I'm not arguing that you can't, or even that you shouldn't. I would agree with you that you should if you have a problem. My point is that you cannot CONTROL it. It isn't your right to control all the other 5 year olds in your 5 year olds class. It also isn't your right to control what the teacher decides to teach. If the teacher steps out of line, you can file a complaint. If you have a problem still, you can pull your child out of that school. My point still remains valid. You cannot control what your child hears at school. You are a dense human being.

Yeah but youll notice that verb "exposed" is in the past tense. Its already happened. You do not have the ability to control/change it. For a conservative you sure sound like you need a safe-space.

I think its over the top, but when you wash brains its easier to start early.

Seriously, Jim Crow laws are nothing to brag about, and that part of history should be taught in school. It just seems Kindergarten is a little early.

Teaching King's message about God, hope, love and turning the other cheek is another thing, however.

But not King's message about equality for all and judging people on the content of their character?

This isn't Malcom X we're talking about

If you believe that you get to be the gatekeeper of knowledge for your child, then you are in for a rude awakening.

Your liberal use of exclamation points and dramatics screams security

Keep trying to discredit me by calling me a sheep. I'm not saying you have to put up with things you don't like. I'm saying you don't get to control everything about your child. So dense.

And if you believe a parent is not, then you have been well indoctrinated.

No you're just ignorant. Kids learn things all the time that surprise their parents. Parents don't always have a say.
