I don't know what kind of liberal safe space sanctuary city bullshite power play you're trying to pull here, but Law enforcement is my territory.
So whatever you're thinking, you'd better think again!
Otherwise I'm gonna have to head down there and I will rain down an un-Godly fricking firestorm upon you!
You're gonna have to call the fricking United Nations and get a fricking binding resolution to keep me from fricking destroying you.
I'm talking scorched earth, motherfricker! I'm talking complete denial of all federal funds, I will massacre you!

"Mr. AG, no where in that meaningless rant did you cite the statute that requires my metro officers to enforce your immigration laws. So you're right, law enforcement is your territory, FEDERAL law enforcement specifically. So go ahead and send your federal LEO's over to do their job, and I'll have my guys continue to do our job. Oh, and your use of the word frick makes you sound like an idiot. I hope your knowledge of actual law is more expansive than your vocabulary"

Know THIS Mr. Mayor. You and the Seven or however many other Dwarfs you call a council will probably be facing a RICO indictment for aiding abetting and harboring federal fugitives from justice. Also obstructing justice.
Those illegal immigrants in many cases also skipped Federal Immigration Court dates.
I view this no differently that if you were harboring fugitives from any other Federal Law. You do not get to pick and choose what laws you obey and which ones you do not. I give you 48 hours and then I present your case to a Grand Jury. Have a nice day and get your affairs in order sir.

Meh. I prefer hitting them where it really hurts. Imagine if no student at the University of Chicago can use a federally funded student loan. No federal disaster relief the next time a quake hits the Bay Area. You can spend all day thinking of examples of federal funding.

This sanctuary city BS may be Trump's PATCO firing moment. Most of you youngsters don't know or don't recall, but when the ATC stuck (illegally) in 1981, Reagan told them to get their asses back in the towers. They called what they thought was his bluff. He fired them.

Its called Tit for Tat. You want federal highway funds? To get them you have to go through the republican controlled house and senate. That highway expansion would stop at the city limits.
I would say all your funding is gone. Whatever projects you are currently involved in need to be stopped immediately as no future payments are coming. Or you can come up with ways to pay for those projects yourselves.
There are plenty of things that the federal government can do to a municipality to force compliance. Also Trump can replace the head of the IRS and instruct him to make sure that every one of the high ranking employees are 100% above board. As in for the last 7 years above board. And any non profits that those people are involved with need to audited too.
The DOJ never got Capone. But the IRS did.
