So, you hate racism.

Good to know your opposition to affirmative action can be counted on.

Sorry for the ad hominem, but it gets you to respond to something. You certainly don't respond well to rational facts that point out your hypocritical inconsistencies.

Because it nullifies his point.

I'm having as hard of a time ginning up some outrage over this "travesty" as I did when the NYT's Howell Raines (Bama grad to our discredit) "flooded the zone" about no womem members at Augusta just before a Masters. I never had the money to get into a fraternity, and they damn sure ain't gonna accept me at Augusta. I just can't generate any concern over this.

They're saying that the private Greek organizations can if they choose to. And they're correct in that regard.

I think many people are missing the point here. If a person or organization is free or has the right to discriminate....and they choose to do so based on race, does that not make them racist? Is that not the definition of racism?

If they are truly private with no public support financially, sure they can do what they want to do and its none of our business. But why are so many posters here afraid to call a spade a spade?

Link to a story about a couple of white guys accepted into a black frat only to be thwarted by older alumni?

And FTR, I'm against that form of discrimination as well.

Thanks for selectively quoting me. Because next I said

I apologize, I wasn't trying to call you out in particular. Just trying to address the many posters who stated, essentially, "they have the right to do anything since they are private" as if that exempts them from being racist.

First off this is about the fraternities and sororities not the whole school, and they are independent institutions who can allow anyone they so choose. It's no different than say the Congressional black caucus. I agree with their ruling

Exactly. The OP is huge fail.

No, if a white guy couldn't get into a black frat solely due to his race, thats also a serious problem and blatant racism. I'm just confused why it seems no one really thinks this is all that bad. Probably bc Tuba is OP, which I get. But again, this isn't about govt forcing private organizations to do anything; this is about "why the hell do these types of organizations still exist in 2014?!"

So just because an organization is private, it can't also be racist?

I support this decision

I do not support the sorority itself. Though, I'll not make a conclusion about them based solely on this issue.

I support Tuba's right to make this OPINION.

I do not support the hackery, fueled by faux outrage and exaggerated to silly proportions.

Freedom is only valuable to the extent that one is free to do some things that others dislike.

If the OP is truly offended, I invite him to read my Sig.
