They did discover colored photography in '61, so there's been some progress.

I realize that it's fashionable on this board just to respond with quick retorts, but if you're serious at all about the threat posed by radical Islam, I suggest you educate yourself on it. It simply is not true that Islam remains today as it was 1400 years ago. Enormous amounts of literature have been published on this and the most important, scariest part from the perspective of someone with more liberal/Western values is that it's moving in the WRONG direction. Take a look at what has happened in Egypt, Iran, many of the Arab states, Turkey, and elsewhere. Fundamentalist Islam is ascendant in our time. If you don't believe me, do just a bit of googling either for articles on the topic or for pictures of women in mini-skirts in places they wear burkas today.

You're right. Islam is "reforming" and moving back to how it was when Muhammad was ordering people killed for insulting him. There was a long time when the leaders within Islam weren't as heavy-handed, and for non-Muslims, that was the golden age of Islam. Now that they are rediscovering their roots and going back to the way things were before liberalism crept in, the evil of that religion is becoming more evident. People should definitely read up on the origins of Islam and how it initially spread. They will see many similarities to what we are seeing with it today.

Back in the 60s Iran had a war with Iraq. I met a guy in college named Abdul (his real name) who was a 25 year old freshman. I asked him what took him so long to start college.

Him: I was drafted and fought in the Iran-Iraq War.
Me: Which side?
Him: Both.
Me: WHAT?
Him: I fought with Iran but I was captured. Iraq offered me the choice of prison or join the Iraq army. Their prisons were horrible. So I fought for Iraq.

They were so close to modernizing too.

It really is sad and it going to lead to a lot more killing.

They could never get their reformation on good footing so they revert back to savagery.

The worst part is that there are millions that don't want any part of it and are going to have to eventually stand up and die in attempts to bring their religion to modern times.

It's what I don't understand about progressives and their love is Islam. They are on completely different trajectories and progressives are high on the kill list.

This means nothing. Who or what is the threat now? Now it's the Muslim ideology that's racking up atrocities. I've never understood the need to point out Christianity's past.

I don't necessarily believe that origin but there are definitely some connections that make you wonder.

I think the religion came from Satan, regardless of whether or not it was the daughter of worshiping the moon god. Muhammad was a war lord and went ballistic after several years of his peaceful message being ignored. He found that slaughtering entire towns was more effective than street preaching.
