IRS to pay employee bonuses despite spending cuts

LINK /

As a current FedGov employee covered by a CBA, I went back and checked to see how ours works.

Our CBA specifically says that award payments are subject to budgetary limitations, and this year we have had a near total freeze on them. We're not even giving out suggestion or "on-the-spot" awards (which are minimal, about $300), much less larger awards for annual performance. (We may still be giving out "time off awards" -- essentially another paid day off -- but not being a manager I'm not sure of this.)

Sequester Jester. The government is laughing at the American people.

As a federal employee, when our bosses were preparing our annual appraisals we were told we would not get any monetary bonuses this year due to budget cuts and sequestration. Guess that doesn't apply to everyone...surprise, surprise.

The Post Office is doing the same thing. You're just not hearing about it because of the IRS being in the news so much these days.

Of course they are. The govt doesn't have to answer to anyone and doesn't have to balance a budget.

Why the frick wouldn't they?

Awesome...I want to be sick. Oh, and my annual bonus averages about $400. How do I get one of these huge bonuses??

We weren't told at appraisal time that no bonuses would be paid, but later (when all the sequester stuff started hitting) we were told that bonuses would not be paid.

Then again, no need to keep DoD employees happy, after all we're just supporting the warmongers. But IRS employees need to be happy to keep those Tea Party Patriots in line. FORWARD!
