Less than it should... we'll have to have north facing panels.

What was the estimated cost of covering the wall in solar panels......oh and btw what was the cost of the wall?

Facing north and south not as much east and west...my sources say.

If you face the panels south where they would generate enough power the Mexicans would vandalize them in protest of the wall. Cost more to fix than to generate electricity.

Trump cited the wall’s economic benefits as well as its environmental ones. Thomas Gleason, managing partner of Gleason Partners LLC, the company that proposed the design, told Business Insider that each solar panel on the wall would produce 2.0MWp per hour of electricity, and, because of this, the wall would pay off the cost of its construction in 20 years through the energy it sells.

The cost of solar panels has decreased rapidly over the last nine years, from around $8 per watt in 2009 to roughly $1.50 per watt in 2016, according to the Solar Energy Industries Association, and Gleason believes the cost will continue to diminish over time.
While the bottom of the wall would still be built out of stone, the solar panels situated on the Mexico-facing side would be double tiered, with the upper layer moving to capture maximum sunlight.

220,000 average sized homes annually. Not bad, but not great. Now we know why solar just isn't viable with current technology.

Cover it in solar panels and sell the energy to Mexico.

How they can make it bullet proof. If any of the solar equipment was exposed to the Mexican side they would just sit there and shoot it

Was just about to post this. Vandalism would be an expensive ongoing problem.

We should put bullet proof glass/ mirrors on Mexico side so they can take a long look at themselves.

I'm not saying it's a bad idea to make it multifunction area, but just put the panels on the us side at the base of the wall along the access road facing East/west and it would make a lot more power and be easier to maintain. Course then you would libtards on this side vandalising it

the panels would need to be on the south side, and would be stolen. the thing will face massive EPA lawsuits, resistance to public domain "sales'. and you'd still have to have a rifleman every 1/4 mile, as well as anti-tunneling tech and dogs. Most illegals FLY here, anyway. So forget the wall. Just force them to leave by locking up anyone who employs or houses them.

Doesn't look very secure. I guess they are leaving out the underground piece as well as thickness requirements.
The wall will likely have solar panels to support flood lights, sensors, and security cameras anyway... But that would be best in a second layer of wall behind a security fence.

Remote turrets with sensor to detect movement, heat, shape, etc.
You shoot at the solar panels, they shoot back.
Edit note: Spelling errors.

The government could enter into tolling agreements with muncipalities to finance it.

it would take 10 years and a trillion $, never happen. Half of the illegals FLY here. We have to make the ones leave who are already here. There's PLENTY of them already here to ruin the country!
