Sort of a spin-off thread.

They're a dumpster fire right now. They've lost a ton of state legislative seats, governorships and the Republicans hold both chambers of Congress and will soon have a solid majority in the Supreme Court.

This election had very little to do with policy IMO because it's not like Trump is a hardcore conservative or Hillary was an ideologue liberal. It was a backlash against the constant SJW/PC movement that didn't necessarily come from the Democratic Party, although they certainly embraced it because they thought it was a winning formula.

Yeah I know Hillary was a shitty candidate but so was Trump.

So, in your opinion, where do the democrats head from here?

If the opposition party was not the republicans I would say quite a while.

They have isolated most common working Americans since they are super radical they will probably never get them back. Having the young vote doesn't matter as proven by those losers not even voting

For me it is not so much about when but what.

I hope the next iteration will be held by their constituency to values of honesty, goodness, unity and love of all citizens.

I hope gone will be idea that they are above the laws.

I hope that they will not be an enemy to Christianity.

Until they they mend fences with white America and find a way to be inclusive instead of exclusive they will be an afterthought.

Dems have some work to do on the state level. There in already a big push to take back state governments in places like MI and OH and WI and PA (although PA already has a Dem governor).

Nationwide, as in POTUS elections, Dems are fine. Just have to fight more effectively in places like MI and WI and PA and OH where Obama won twice.

As long as the media keeps pushing fake news and ridiculous hate the Dems will never get their party back.

CNN has an article out right now with a headline insinuating Trump is Hitler because he had his hand raised when he said Merry Christmas and that at church last night he only sang the first well known verses and not the entire song.

Wtf?

The media shapes the public and public appeasement shapes the party.

They fricked.

Now this is a hilarious statement!

The fact of the matter is, no you do not have the Republicans where you want them.

Your pathetic party is bereft of any young political talent at the national level, and with massive minorities in state legislatures and governorships, it will take a long time for democrats to make inroads at the state level in a majority of states.

Heck, even solid blue states like Massachusetts, Maryland and Illinois have Republican governors.

Democrats may very well reclaim the presidency and Congress in the future, but the GOP is the clear majority party in this country right now.

They never will until they separate themselves from the SJW/radicalized liberal types. The party will simply not be taken seriously while embracing these nut cases.

Those two groups are too ignorant and smug to realize mainstream America can't stand their childish bullshite, and will never accept it or put up with it.

The best thing the democrat party could have done was blow up their entire party and put new leadership in charge. With keeping Pelosi as Minority leader it appears they didn't do that. They will get spanked again in 2018 and if Trump can stay focused on the economy and trade with the help of Congress he will win again in 2020. The problem with the Democrat Party is they let the nut job progressives take over and now people are rejecting them. They need more centrist aka bluedogs to take back their party or they will continue to run it into the ground.

If it disintegrates something will take its place that looks a lot like the Democratic Party. The founders, perhaps unintentionally, designed a form of government that naturally promotes the formation of two political parties.

Honestly they COULD recoup in about 8 years if they took an honest look at what got them here.

I don't see it happening though, as they will continue chasing the minority vote as it increases while continuing to piss off whites into block voting against them.
