The ladies of Columbus, MS decorated the graves of Civil War Soldiers, both Rebs and Yanks. Time to remember both sides, as well as all of those who have fallen since then.

Listen, you stupid troll, my ancestors fought against the British as members of the Acadian members of the Spanish militia. They fought for the Confederacy. My grandfather was a dough-boy. My father was a gunners-mate in the South Pacific in WW2. My uncles served also. My cousin was confined to a wheel-chair for the rest of his life after Normanday. They all served the land that was their home. I do not have to prove my loyalty to the US to a frick like you. I honor the service of all my ancestors. US and Confederate.

So your family is full of great Americans, and for a period of time, fought against great Americans. Pick up a history book. Confederates are not Americans. Plain and simple.

If you are not trolling, I appoligize for my harshness. They were all Americans. They are all considered US Veterans. The VA paid for the Confederate markers on their grave. Did you know that Pres Eisenhower displayed a portrait of Gen Lee in his office? Did you know that the US General commanding, in the Spanish-American War was a Confederate General? Did you know that Gen Patton was proud of his Confederate ancestors? I do not think, back in the day, you would have dared question his loyalty to his face. Did you know that Pres Theodore Roosevelt worshiped the Confederate Naval officer who was his Uncle? He was his inspiration to become Sec of the Navy. Why don't we join forces and celebrate all the men who served in the way they thought they should, politics not withstanding?

This guy's argument has all the childish simplicity of a Spiderman TUba political argument--i.e., one where he doesn't even attempt to understand the larger real world context, given with repetitive over-the-top trolling that he fails to realize isn't clever, all mixed with a preposterously inflated confidence in his own Progressive righteousness.

Even Hugo Stiglitz is incapable of pulling off a childish trolling thread with this degree of utterly lacking self-awareness. I think this might actually be TUba.

There is no fricking way that it is appropriate to honor CSA soldiers on a United States holiday.

They do it because it allows the neo-rebs to attempt to legitimize what can never be anything but disgraceful - an attempt to destroy the best government yet devised.

I'm calling you a troll because there have been ten threads with this stupid argument in the past few days. Whiskey Papa has been giving himself aneurysms over it.

Starting a thread like this is specifically to draw out an argument about Confederate soldiers. And you know it

Or maybe just trying to draw attention to the much forgotten about Union soldiers. The Confederates are always in the news. Just remembering the forgotten on this Memorial Day.

No lulz were had. Mostly just staring off in the distance, shaking my head, wondering how our country got to this point.
