This helps the republicans
Americans hate Obamacare
Republicans are standing up for the American people
They have already done this FORTY times via House votes for either full or partial repeal of Obamacare. The Republican House is on record repeatedly for doing everything possible to go on record with their opposition to Obamacare. But as long as Harry Reid is the traffic cop over in the Senate, nothing has, or ever will, come of such actions. The symbolism becomes meaningless after about the 10th repeal vote.
Everything on Obamacare has been going the Republicans way. The legislation is showing serious signs of crumbling under its own weight well before much of the program has even been put in place. Polls show the American people are more opposed to Obamacare than ever before. The unions are pissed about it now. The Dems have been showing their very first signs of internal strife in recent weeks, between Syria and Obamacare. Obama's favorable ratings are cratering. Everything has been going the Republicans way.
Leave Obamacare alone another 14 months and watch the voters wretch and puke all the way to the ballot box and vote Republican in 2014. The program is already disintegrating in front of everyone's eyes. Let it play out. They're already on record to repeal it. There's nothing else they can do right now. The system is self-destructing and being strangled by its own regulations.
Engaging in a fight you have zero chance to win by trying to shut down the government can only alienate those independent voters that stand between a 2014 Obama re-capture of full power and a Republican takeover of the Senate.
When you have a strong wind at your back, such as the Republicans have right now, it's an act if idiocy to turn around and spit into that wind just because you can.
Ride the wave and watch Obamacare continue to sputter and fail badly in the next 12 months. And then let Democrats run on THAT in 2014.
