Let your representative know the working middle class can't afford another tax in Louisiana.

But what about all of these racist statues around here? That's the real problem!

I watched the vote in Ways & Means, and was shocked that there were 3 republicans who voted for this. It passed 9-7 to go to the floor.

In no way am I arguing this is a good thing, but if you use 15 gallons of gas in a week that will be an extra $2.55 a week. If you can't afford an offset of $2.55 a week, then you aren't in the middle class.

times 2 cars times 52 weeks, for most families. It's not just about the $.17, it's about the bullshite way the government pisses away all the money they take in.

or, let them know they better not allow the language dedicating the funds to road/bridge work be removed, and they better not allow the undoing of the no agency ops/admin costs restriction on those funds

Yeah, like I said, I'm not arguing the tax is a good thing. I'm just saying the OP is over reacting when he says the middle class can't afford it. Even 2 cars at 52 weeks, thats $265 a year. That's $22 a month. I know its bad, but it isn't financially breaking. Don't act like it is. Fuel prices are way down. Over a full dollar cheaper per gallon than they were at their peak.

My problem is not the cost. It's the people behind it. We know damn well that the money will not be used properly. It will used line the pockets of politicians and their friends.

It will stick, only way you can sell it

Isn't the gas tax earmarked for certain purposes? Just curious.

Would this have to be voted on by the people? I thought taxes had to be voted on.

You can't be serious, right?

Show me some infrastructure improvements and I'd be onboard. Otherwise, sounds like grease money that will end up in the pockets of a few elites

Y'all should've left the gas alone, and legalized weed. Legal marijuana is a fricking gold mine for private industry and tax revenue.
