The right doesn't hate Trump. The Republican establishment hates Trump.
There's a clear difference.

It always surprised me how little news coverage the virtual collapse of the economies of Portugal, Italy, Ireland, Greece and Spain received. While many of these cultures could be described as "conservative" in terms of religious adherence, family focus, etc., they are poster children for the supposed leftist utopia when it comes to fiscal policy. Welfare everywhere. Huge government sector. Massive inequality. At one point, more than 50% of Greece's population worked for the federal government! I've been trying for years and still can't do that math.

Yet you don't hear a peep about this from leftists. The news media don't report it and the average liberal common person in the US probably isn't even aware. This whole grand vision the leftists in America have, basically Obama's vision to a tee, has already been attempted and failed in Europe and it's like the liberal masses aren't even aware of it.

I remember the crisis both here and in the EU pretty fondly because I was in college at the time as an Econ major so this all played out at the opportune time for me. The only places I ever remember reading about the crisis and the actual root causes were financial articles. I don't ever remember seeing them discussed in the msm US, world, or political news. Most people don't read financial news, just the msm so the narrative remains intact.

If Ted Cruz were President the left would hate him, too. But the answer to your question would be 'He's a conservative.' Trump is really not an ideological conservative. So, it's just a visceral hatred of anything that stands athwart their march toward a socialist state.

He fights back. The media thinks that's not fair.

Think of all the petty shite Obama did to poke at Republicans when he was in office. Now multiply that by a million and you have Trump.
