In high school I once joined a group protesting abortion in front of a clinic on St. Charles Ave.

It was my one and only time and I never joined them again. I find abortion to be repulsive but many of my fellow protestors were simply annoying.

I don't shop at Dicks Sporting Goods after they gave into liberals and removed their AR-15s after Sandyhook. That's as much I've been willing to protest.

Abortion protesters are some of the most vile people I've ever run across.

I'm just curious. I haven't. I don't personally know anyone who has, ever. I'm certainly not judging someone who as executed their right to do so. Just wanted to know if anyone ever has?

I have...I grew up in a labor family and started marching in labor rallies as soon as I was old enough....in fact my mother walked a Teamsters picket line when I was still in the womb...I have probably participated in 100 labor rallies over the years...always more or less peaceful....I do remember one time when a communist party member was handing out literature at a labor day march in Atlanta....probably around 1972 or so....and a bunch of what would become my building trades brothers beat him up pretty badly because he was a commie...

There have been two protests that I participated in which resulted in almost immediate positive change...one was a protest against proposed workers compensation changes in Georgia which would have severely limited the amount of compensation an injured employee would be entitled to when it was and is already severely limited in the state. The second one was aimed at Grady Hospital in Atlanta and resulted in a city ordinance that any contractor doing business with the city of Atlanta would be required to provide health insurance and a pension plan for their employees. The non-union workers on that project received health insurance, many of them for the first time ever in their working careers.

I also took part in a teamsters strike against UPS once when I was about 20 years old and that action ended that strike in less than 4 hours....but that strike was going to end in 48 hours or so anyway.

I along with right at 9000 other building tradesman drug up a job once (drug up is quit in the construction world) because TVA laid off a local man (and steward) with travelers working on the job.....a decision made by one of this guys' local brother who was the PM on the job who had been in an ongoing personality conflict with this guy for years...the PM knew what could potentially happen if he laid this guy off...he would have done exactly what we did when he was working with his tools....the result was that everyone was rehired within 48 hours and no more local men were laid off with tramps on the job...I personally had not had a day off in 39 days when this happened so I was more than happy to have a day off....

Protests work....they do not need to be violent and they do not need to be disruptive....

I just rememembered another one...we ran Newt Gingriches arse slap out of his Marietta offices one time...that protest did turn very ugly and there was some property damaged and some arrests made....

Only once. During Vietnam the army recruiters had set up a recruiting video at a table in the student dining hall at USL. I noticed that they had unplugged the jukebox next to them. I plugged it back in and put a quarter in and played a war protest song. Like most other students I was pissed that 4 students were shot dead at Kent State that week. The recruiters realized that arresting me for playing music was not a plan so they packed up and left.

A lot of students were at the other end of the hall signing up with the SDS but I knew that the SDS was a bunch of Commie bastards.

I protest all the time when I make choices of where I spend my money, etc.

You just don't hear about it as much because I don't end up rioting, or burning things.

Hopefully soon. I sent my application in to George Soros and I'm waiting to hear back. Just for some extra cash.

No.

I'm not against it but it's a complete waste of time and never accomplishes anything

At the ballot box - every time.

However, now that I am retired I might consider going to some DIMprog event and raising some hell.

I do less important stuff, like abide the law, run a business, raise a family , take care of my elderly family members. I'm not ambitious enough to protest, break windows or scream at strangers.
