It's amazing how conservatives foam at the mouth at the mention of Waco but see nothing wrong with the overkill we see in Gaza.

well the Branch Davidians, at least according to those people's version of the story, never waged war against the US. the US attacked them first without threat or provocation. that is not true in the Israel-Palestine context

and, most importantly, the Branch Davidians lost

it's like the civil war (if you go there). regardless of the philosophical undertones, the South lost

If the government surrounded cities, blockading them from leaving etc, I can guarantee you that you and every other conservative here would not advocate being good little citizens and killing those mean rebels and hoping in 2 generations things would get better.

and if the citizens attacked, the government would respond back. where do you see this part left out?

Egypt and Israel have blocked off both land borders, and Israel has imposed an air and sea blockade on Gaza ever since it withdrew in 2005.

When was the country of Palestine created?

The State of Palestine is recognized the UN and has non-member observer State status in the UN (the same as The Holy See) with an application for full membership.

Not the junior high school semantics games again, let's stay on topic.

EDIT: Are you one of those people who believes there's no such thing as a Palestinian?

So saying Israel is illegally occupying Palestine doesn't elicit a response like "when was Palestine created". Seems like that isn't semantics at all. But, I guess any argument that doesn't favor the terrorists you love so much must be dismissed.

I believe they used more lethal weapons than rocks even back then.

why is it always "semantics" when the non-liberal people point out nuance, but if a non-liberal asks for a yes/no answer on the other side, they're accused of lacking the ability to have nuance in their thinking/discussions?

It's Declaration of Independence was signed November 15, 1988.

Speaking of, our Declaration of Independence was signed July 4, 1776. Was that when our country was created? The revolutionary war didn't end until 1783. The Articles of Confederation wasn't ratified until 1781. The present constitution not until 1789.

So were we not a country during all those years? I doubt Britain considered us a country.

Well, we won the war. Little different than what will happen in Gaza. But the left doesn't like to talk about things like "to the victor goes the spoils"....

Hmmm....so Israel could not have "occupied" the country of Palestine prior to 1988?

You actually believe Gaza will be part of Israel? Why the hell would Israel want a slice of land with 1.5 million people who hate them?

They can either take it over and toss everyone out (which some nutballs want); continue blockading them (which means they fight back and this never ends); or back the frick off.

it's their choice of course.
