The GOP was going to line up against Rand regardless, but they had better pick some better ammunition than that, because if they don't, he will continue to draw momentum.

It was truly disheartening to see what they did to his father, and Ron never stood a shot at the nomination.

Rand on the other hand is a politician (something Ron never was). And he has controlled his message succinctly thus far.

The GOP won't be able to bully him as they did with Ron. And I promise you, the GOP leadership is grasping at straws at the moment (see article from OP).

None of this matters a tinkers damn. Rand Paul doesn't stand a snow balls chance in hell anyway. Never has. Never will.

LOL

This may not doom him, but I still think the GOP will cannibalize him in the primaries. They don't want anyone to rock the boat.

If the GOP wants to doom Rand they will. The GOP doesn't know how to take a look in the mirror.

The GOP barely knows how to fog a mirror.

And?

They won't accomplish anything. Then in 2016 they'll lose seats in the House and Senate, and they won't reclaim the White House. They're terrible at playing this game. I'm just talking political strategy, not political thought.

Honestly, I like Rand and I don't hold ONE thing against any politician.

That said, ANYONE giving Sharpton the time of day is making an error ANYTIME they do it.

Sharpton is a complete piece of shite that should never be treated as credible.

Depends. If the donor class pushes their candidate through the primaries, the GOP will definitely lose the presidential election.

A Jeb Bush/Chris Christie is just another Bob Dole/John McCain/Mitt Romney. The GOP donor class has a terrible history of losing presidential elections.

I'm genuinely hoping Rand wins the primary. If he ran against another moderate Democrat in the Obama/Bill Clinton mold, I'd actually have a decision to make.

IMO, anyone with half a brain knows this, but that doesn't mean you communicate that...especially if you are trying to win votes in a voting demographic that your party has alienated for 80+ years...He is just playing the game...which the GOP knows nothing about.

Rand is going to be a candidate that CNN and MSNBC will have more difficult time to spin negatively. Why that isn't being leveraged by the GOP is beyond me.

Because the GOP is terrible at politics. They can be substantive and right on an important issue and completely and utterly frick the entire thing up.

That had more to do with the lowest voter turnout in 72 years. It's easy to win when only old whites show up to vote

Yep exactly how I feel too. Rand is the first Republican (more like a RINO) that I have even thought about voting for in 20 years

Unfortunately I don't think there is a chance in hell that the GOP allows him to win the primary. They are going to eat him alive once the race really kicks into gear

Yeah, I'm thinking we'll end up with Jeb Bush and Hillary Clinton, and I'll just stay home and watch the PoliBoard melt.
