THOUSANDS CURED OF POVERTY AFTER GEORGIA INTRODUCES WORK-FOR-FOOD-STAMP REQUIREMENT

When Reagan recommended a similar means test called "workfare" in the 1980's, Jesse Jackson railed against the "meanness mania" spreading across America.

THOUSANDS CURED OF POVERTY AFTER GEORGIA INTRODUCES WORK-FOR-FOOD-STAMP REQUIREMENT

Thousands of people have been miraculously cured of poverty in Georgia following the state’s implementation of a requirement that all those receiving stamps must either be working, training for a job, or volunteering for a non-profit or charity.

According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, “Georgia has been rolling out work requirements for food stamp recipients for over a year.”

The outlet states that the latest rollout saw the requirements reach 21 counties, affecting roughly 12,000 able-bodied people without children.

Those people were given until April 1 to fulfil the aforementioned requirement. But when that date rolled around, The Journal-Constitution, citing state figures, reports that more than half of the food stamp recipients were dropped from the program.

“Essentially, the number of recipients spiraled down from 11,779 to 4,528, or a drop of 62 percent,” the outlet states.

Just more proof that the greatest anti-poverty program is a job.

Great example of letting states govern themselves.

Hopefully this example will spread to other more liberal states with budget issues, places like michigan.

If this can be sustained for 15-20 years, you will see the public school start to achieve in ways previously unimaginable.
Govt handouts and failing schools go hand in hand

My store averages 65 employees and I can't get people to do labor anymore.. If they have food stamps/EBT card, they do not want a job. I have constant openings in my deli'smoked meat dept, no one will work at night until 10:00, no one will mop floors, NO ONE will unload a delivery truck and stock it until completed, no one will clean up and throw away food/meat/produce scraps, it's beneath them. They say it's for a janitor to do. This country has been ruined by welfare and food stamps. They get too many too, $600,$700 or $900 a month is what they get. They buy all they want in steaks, ribs, roasts, pies, cakes, cookies, candy, sweets, then have EBT left over and they don't even want to go back and spend the rest. It's a pain in the arse to have to back and spend more that they don't need. $350 is enough for an unmarried couple with 3 or 4 illegitiment kids out of wedlock.

It is a great idea, but who watches the kids while they work? Daycare will cost more than giving people food stamps.

And there is the key. If they are able-bodied and without children, they should do something for food stamps.

This is awesome. It really pissed me off to see a mother with 5 kids (that she payed no attention to) walk up to the checkout and have a cart full of ribs, steaks, cakes etc. while using their ebt cards and I was living on noodles working 40+ hours a week and going to school. Finally something is being done, but people who try to better themselves here get shited on. Way to go Georgia!

ETA: I know it is only for able bodied people with no kids, but it is a step in the right direction.
