It is understandable the white, affluent male is a little worried right now. They sense a social sea change in this country that is not an advantage or benefit to them.

This is a window into the mind of a liberal. It's group vs group, foremost and always. They can't see a world where a man can deal with another man without giving a frick about how much melanin is in their counterpart. Their entire world view hinges upon strife and a fundamental belief that most people, especially whites, want to frick everybody else over. Most importantly in the end, they can hop on their high horse and ride in to "fix" the problem.

I'm in agreement with the OP. Whether intentional or not, the comments and actions of Deblasio and Sharpton fan the flames and make a problem worse than it would otherwise be... if existent at all by now. How much better would relations be if we all just treated each other like adults instead of like children? Liberals are stuck in a time where the conventional wisdom was to screw people to get ahead. Most everybody has moved way past that, and realize that screwing people hurts oneself as much or more than what is gained by doing so. This is evident in their view of race, business, unions, regulation, and everything else.

Of course, the liberal mind always assumes they are the adult in the room, so it's tough to get through with reason.

I'll save you the effort.

At no time when Garner was saying "I can't breathe" was there a hand or arm on his throat.

"I can't breathe." "I can't breathe." "I can't breathe." "I can't breathe." "I can't breathe." "I can't breathe." "I can't breathe." "I can't breathe." "I can't breathe." "I can't breathe." "I can't breathe." Not once during a single one of those utterances was there any contact with Garner's throat.

You hit the nail on the head with your asthma/COPD comment.

I'm yammering about your parsing of the homicide of a human.

It doesn't seem like parsing to me. It seems like a sincere attempt to explain why the grand jury came to a decision that many of us found inexplicable at the time. Insomuch as it gets us closer to the truth, you should be applauding it.I was shocked when it happened and the threads here and links helped me understand their LEGAL reasoning more.

And how you can say this to him eludes reason:

You don't give a shite about his death

Really bro?

So you are agreeing with the Honorable Al Sharpton that these 2 murders had nothing to do with the "peaceful protestors" who were chanting "Kill a cop. Now". The POS mentioned Ferguson & Garnder in his postings on social media. But what he did is only crazy & not related in any way?

The "liberal mind" is personified by Mr. Gruber's "glib" comments, all 7 times he made them. They really do think they know what is best for the rest of us.

You have no idea of their legal reasoning because it hasn't been released. You've read into it what you want so that you're back to the same ideals you had before you watched a cop kill a guy on video.

Explaining away his death by parsing the word "chokehold" is pretty telling, IMO. I'm not in the habit of explaining away deaths I care about. Maybe he's different.

When did selling singles out of cigarette packs untaxed become a capital offense?

Either you don't understand the term parsing, or you haven't read my posts.
quote:

the troubling similarities between Luis Rodriguez and Garner should AT THE LEAST force PDs to incorporate safety training. Both men died horrible deaths. Both were unnecessary. Both men continued to be subdued after loss of consciousness. Both situations should entail PD liability, if not criminal, then civil. No one should be killed for simply not producing ID or buying single cigarettes.
LINK
quote:

My suspicion is this guy, like Luis Hernandez, had significant underlying medical issues --- OSA, Asthma, Coronary/Myocardial Disease --- and rapidly lost conscious in a restrained, chest-compressed, prone position. The cops did not recognize extremis. They continued actions after loss of consciousness and should be held liable in some way.
LINK
quote:

The fellow died through a scenario very similar to Luis Rodriguez. The weight of several bodies dogpiling an obese, unhealthy victim with arms pinned behind his back basically crushed the breath out of him. It was wholly unnecessary in both cases. It should at least be a learning experience for the cops.

In cases where the suspect's hands are successfully cuffed, if pressure continues, the cops should be prosecuted. May say something about equipment. Standard handcuffs for a 400lb man may force his arms so far back as to be dangerous. Perhaps a different design cuff would help.

But erroneously identifying cause of death won't contribute to a constructive solution.

It's not a capital offense you dolt. Resisting arrest with a heart condition, asthma, and diabetes is a recipe for disaster.

And now, a week later some criminal shitbag, feeling emboldened and righteous decides to take out two cops and be a martyr for the cause.
Or....he could have been suffering from a mental illness that drove him to kill his girlfriend first, then the two cops, and then himself. So I say you're just blowing smoke out of your arse.

Why were they arresting him for such a relatively minor offense? Why not issue him a summons?
