These antagonistic reporters who think they can control the moment with whatever bullshite agenda they are trying to promote shoving a recorder in someone's face and ignoring the referral to the press guy is just looking for a physical takedown.

You believe you have the right to physically assault someone? You're a smart guy, Bandit. You know you have no such right.

Hum... I think that is more complicated than you'd like to believe. There used to be a natural order to things: if you acted like a dick, you got a beatdown. So people didn't act like fricking assholes all the goddamn time for fear of said beatdown.

Now though, everyone has the attitude of "I'll do whatever I want because you can't touch me. Na na na na naaa na!" and they choose to to run crying and screaming as soon as someone lays a finger on them.

I'm not saying Gianforte was right/justified in what he did, but you have to admit that the pendulum has swung way too far in the other direction and pricks are taking full advantage.

I would be careful on the assault thing, notice C below, if the recorder even touched his face the reporter is about to have insult added to injury and the pol is getting off on self defense.

And yes, this is the MT statute

45-5-201. Assault. (1) A person commits the offense of assault if the person:
(a) purposely or knowingly causes bodily injury to another;
(b) negligently causes bodily injury to another with a weapon;
(c) purposely or knowingly makes physical contact of an insulting or provoking nature with any individual; or
(d) purposely or knowingly causes reasonable apprehension of bodily injury in another.
(2) A person convicted of assault shall be fined not to exceed $500 or be imprisoned in the county jail for any term not to exceed 6 months, or both.

Not really.

No, you're wrong. He's a public figure and this is part of the game. Maybe Gianforte should stop being such a goddamn snowflake and act like an adult.

I'm not sure what fantasy world you live in, but what you're describing was always assault. Perhaps it went underreported in the past, sure, but that wasn't a good thing.

I hope one day we can stand face-to-face. I'll taunt you. You'll hit me. I'll bankrupt your dumb arse. Have a great day.

Well the sheriff already concluded the investigation and charged Gianforte with misdemeanor assault. I guess you missed that part.

And? what does that have to do with what I posted? He has not been convicted and without charges no one has investigated the reporters action yet.

Don't blow your load during foreplay son, keep your powder dry a bit longer.

You don't think the sheriff looked at all the available evidence before filing charges?

Irony is ironic.

I don't even know you, but here you are threatening to knowingly provoke me into an altercation so that you could file a civil suit against me. That really says something about what type of person you are. You and your ilk are a big part of what's wrong with the world today.

No. I simply pointed out something. Thus far you're the only one to get bothered about anything (bothered enough to threaten me ).

This is how the cuck press should be treated from here on. If I'm a Montana citizen, I'm voting for this man strictly based on this one incident. Good riddance to that piece of filth.

I don't think the sheriff was stupid enough to not turn this over to a judge and jury no matter what he thinks happened, anything else puts him at the center of a media firestorm.

I would bet a good deal that if the pol files a complaint today the reporter gets charged as well, just the smart way to play it for the sheriff.

I have no right to assault someone unprovoked. But I do have a right to defend myself against 'assault' by someone else - regardless of whether or not they have a recorder in their hands.

If we want a civil society, those who act uncivilly need to be beaten down in an uncivil manner.

There are ways for true journalists to get information they need. They don't have the right to intrude on every aspect of their political opponents' private lives. This is what modern PROG/DEM journalists have become - ambushers and uncivil intruders.

This 'reporter' was not an objective journalist seeking information. This was a political operative trying to disrupt a political opponent.

I am as mild mannered a man as you could imagine. However, I have a sense of personal space and demand civil behavior. You can stand off to one side and insult me all you want and I'll just ignore you and go one about my way. But if you get in my face and demand that I bend to your desire to take me down, I am liable to shoot your arse.

As I said - I could never be a politician.

Where was Toddy during the campaign when people attempting to peacefully assemble at a political rally were repeatedly assaulted? Remember the poor woman pinned up against the hotel door? WHERE was he THEN? Where were the Democrats condemning the violence?

The LEFT is to blame for the atmosphere of violence, masked Antifa thugs that he supports.

As should every man, entering this space in a disrespectful manner brings whatever you get, used to be something every man understood.

I believe that entire account is accurate and as a conservative who cares I have to say that after hearing the audio of the assault I would like to take this time to apologize to...

Honestly. This is my view too

It needs to happen more.

Leftists have begged for it. They're like the wife who hits her husband because she knows he's a decent man and won't hit a woman.

EVENTUALLY, the man reevaluates
