It's a zero sum game. You can't make people understand this. Everything goes up as a result, buying power is the same. Not to mention, lay offs typically follow a forced minimum wage increase. Also, it's not just the employees making minimum wage that get an increase. Those making above minimum wage start bitching for a raise. It doesn't help, of course, it helps liberals feel good about themselves.

It hurts. Most people will not get the same percentage raise, so in many cases they will be worse because inflation on common items such as groceries will go up at a higher percentage than the average pay raise.
Just use simple logic. If every menial task came with a 20 dollar an hour price tag, don't you think demand for these jobs would increase? Combined with the increase labor costs and you have a situation ripe for increasing unemployment.
(1) Demand for Jobs Increase (more people actively look for jobs)
(2) Labor Costs increase such that you are unable hire as many people
1+2= increased unemployment and Obama is an idiot.

This doesn't reconcile the inherent economic problems associated with increasing the minimum wage.
