Think of the consequences of shutting down a refinery vs shutting off specific individuals access to EV Chargers

Funny how you call me stupid, but not the OP for their suggestion when we all know people can buy solar power generators.

It runs everything in the trailer, and will do so indefinitely. The point here is that I don't need a 72 kW array just because I have a 72 kWh battery bank.

Here is an estimate for a 100KW solar system for self-sufficiency. 100KW would allow you to heat/cool your home and charge the home battery system that you will need to use at night to charge your EV.

"If you are wondering how many panels are needed for a 100kw solar system – you can expect a solar energy system of that size to be around 400 panels. Each panel will measure 1 x 1.6 metres. Doing the math, this is going to mean considerable mounting space, roughly 640 square m2 of appropriate mounting space."

That covers a space of 1 and 1/4 football fields. That's HUGE.

You can get two 2000WH solar panel generators for $2700 on Amazon. It takes 9.5 hours to charge them in the sun.

Probably some combo of climate change, systemic racism, asphalt justice, threat to democracy, common sense disinformation control . . . or other fertilizer.

Most small EV's have 100KW battery and a range of 200-300 miles or so. That's 2.5 miles per KW.

Yep. Even though I don’t have OnStar for that very reason they send me an email telling me what my tire pressure is on my car.

It's about a artificial, manufactured industry. Since it's artificial and propped by govt, govt actors have their hands in the cookie jar getting paid tons to support and push it.

The small ones are around 30KWH to 40KWH I believe.

I've had this belief for a while. With the advancement of lithium batteries, in theory, you can be individually energy independent. With the right amount of money, land, and planning you do not need to buy fuel or have an energy provider for the rest of your life.

I support your point but yes the technology to kill your ICE is already in your car…

It is called OnStar in GM vehicles. All the other makers have similar

That was our goal when we bought land in Montana. We now have solar and rainwater collection systems that give us all we'll ever need.

We bought a new travel trailer a few months ago that gives us the same, but now we're mobile. It has water generation that gives us 4-5 gallons of filtered drinking and cooking water a day. I'd also like to get grey water recycling set up so we can stay off-grid even longer.

The best mileage I find is

2023 Hunday Kona Electric 27kWh/100 miles
2023 Tesla Model 3 25kWh/100 miles
2023 Tesla Model Y 26kWh/100 miles
2023 Lucid Air Pure 24kWh/100 miles

In all cases, it's around 4 miles per KW today.

I have 109 acres and cows. When the come out with an electric tractor that I can get on at daylight, work it all day long, come in at dark and recharge it in 15 minutes I'm in. Until then, I will stick with diesel.

With the electronics of modern engines, they can shut it off if you don’t make the payments on your vehicle. And I am talking about new vehicles and not older vehicles sold at some shady dealers that are retrofitted with a tracker and immobilizer for the payments.
