Even though it had been dumped on Friday nights, the Tim Allen sitcom Last Man Standing enjoyed ratings that Deadline describes as "very respectable for any night and especially Friday[.]" Every week, the half-hour comedy, one of the very few aimed to appeal to America's heartland, won its time-slot in the all-important demo, including 6.4 million overall same-day viewers. Deadline further adds that "[w]hile most returning shows were down year-to-year 20-30%, LMS was virtually flat, off just by 5% in total viewers and adults 18-49[.]"

I knew it wouldn't last. My wife was hulu-ing it nightly. It was pretty good. Reminded me a lot of home improvement. I was actually shocked they let them have a comedy with a more right wing slant than the typical left wing slant.

Not surprised in the least it was cancelled though.

Never heard of the show. What makes it Trump friendly?

I watched some of that on Netflix. It was pretty good.

I wonder why ABC would cancel a show that has good ratings when there are so many terrible shows out there? It couldn't be because of politics, since networks try their best to stay away from such things.

He always made fun of King Obama and Queen Hillary so he had to go.

Sad to see it go.

You are the only poster on this thread that mentioned "corporate fascism".

Did you not read the article?

quote:

Moreover, the ABC television network is owned by Disney, a rabidly left-wing company run by Bob Iger, who, for years, has been a huge supporter of both Bill and Hillary Clinton. In order to protect the Clintons, Iger has gone so far as to eat $40 million. The Path to 9/11 was a popular 2006 miniseries that offered only light criticism of Bill Clinton's handling of Osama bin Laden. Although the original idea was to rerun the program every September 11, Iger has not only refused to rerun it even once (losing all that advertising revenue), he won’t even release it on home video. That kind of corporate fascism, Iger's willingness to shove a $40 million investment into a ditch, only helps us to make sense of ABC's strangling of a proven golden goose like Last Man Standing.

the censorship appears to be one sided. Bash trump all you want but speak poorly of our progressive lords and your show is done.

That type of corporate coercion with a political party feels like facism

Of course, any show that I can stand to watch gets canceled.

Actually enjoyed the hell out of that show for the very reason it was canceled...I would bet.

Here's to more Black-ish, y'all.

For such a so called objective political thinker, you only seem to get worked up over conservative slanted things.

Interesting.

Who said that?

I'd call it an example of Hollywood using their bully pulpit to push their Leftist agenda, even if it means losing a show that was making money. not illegal. Just same old same old from Hollywood.

Or they just felt like his salary was too high and didn't want to invest in more episodes. This author is on a witch hunt.

Not at all. Just making my observations on actually seeing the show. I disagree that it is "corporate fascism". I think it's a stupid business move if it's one of ABC's rare money makers. And i think it's simply an owner doing what it wants to do. That's not fascism, that individual ownership.

However, seeing how the left thinks that ownership is a throwback to fascism, i can see how you would think it is fascism.

Look, if the firing was political we will find out soon. NBC or CBS will scoop Tim Allen up for a new show. It will be obvious.
