Problem is that the poli board is rife with hardcore Trump loons. I'm not talking people who voted for him.......it was DT or HRC we all get it (i.e. No choice). Rather, it's the fanatical weirdos who worship him. Nothing can be logically discussed anymore.

Lest anyone think candidate Frank Scurlock is a white knight come to save the city, the term arse clown is in the running to correctly describe him.
NOLA is in deep trouble.

I hear you but sounds like it should be admined better. I mean this is a straight up poli post. My only problem is that it seems like the OT is getting more and more poli threads. There's a place for these posts, they say there is at least.
ETA: OT is also becoming a secondary poli board for people who are banned from the poli board.

Dan Gilbert is looking at investing one billion in New Orleans so this crazy theory may not be so crazy.

Gotta trust the process.

I'm not sure what it would be. I've never seen her in an executive capacity, so the only question is whether she's ready to put her administration in place, tell them her strategy, and defer to them on how to implement it. I honestly can't see her acting anything like Mitch with his stubbornness to adhere to failed plans simply because he thought it up and he's always right...or the vendettas, tantrums, etc.
Shes always seemed classy and intelligent to me, I certainly don't see her embarrassing us. She'll definitely be much more racially neutral than LaToya.

This is good. Just knowing that she won't act like a dumb bitch and has a decent grasp of the English language should be enough to easily get her past LaToya. I'm sure LaToya will get the bottom feeder votes who wants their free stuff and to stick it to the white man, but I bet a lot of blacks and most of the white people would prefer the Desiree type of politician.

The chances of a "Desiree" becoming a judge is pretty damn slim. She's overcome quite a bit IMO.

If this article is in any way accurate, she may be the best option so far:

Mayoral candidate Desiree Charbonnet released a crime plan Monday promising she would add between 80 and 100 new officers a year to the New Orleans Police Department, create rapid-response units to deal with crimes in progress and undertake a national search for a police chief.
But alongside those proposals and largely noncontroversial ideas such as expanding intervention and mentoring efforts, Charbonnet’s plan calls for cutting payments to the monitors tracking whether the NOPD is adhering to its federal consent decree, revamping one of the main offices responsible for stemming corruption in the department, and diverting money from housing and economic development funds to help pay for the anti-crime efforts.
In what appears to be a reference to Mayor Mitch Landrieu’s recent spats with state officials such as Attorney General Jeff Landry, the plan also says a Charbonnet administration “will leave no offer of help unaccepted, no partnership underutilized, and will explore cooperative agreements wherever they will increase the efficiency of our use of resources while minimizing costs.”
quote:
The proposal calls for better community policing and cites as an example the private patrols set up in the French Quarter by businessman Sidney Torres, who flirted with an entry into the mayor’s race for months before bowing out last week.
quote:
Charbonnet is running to more or less completely repudiate Mitch Landrieu with respect to crime. It’s pretty obvious she’s casting herself as the law-and-order, pro-normal candidate as opposed to LaToya Cantrell, her primary competitor, who’ll be more of the Karen Carter Peterson/social justice warrior variety.

I liked that summary. Especially the last sentence referring to LaToya more or less as a SJW
Posted on 7/19/17 at 8:58 am to TigersSEC2010
She has most of the old money Nola families in her corner so she's going to raise the most money. Cantrell has the trash and the SJWs in hers

Sydney Torres also said, while he may not join the race, he will campaign hard for whoever he thinks is best for the job.
Methinks (and hopes) he won't be backing Cantrell. I could see him backing Charbonnet.

I served in the Senate in the 80;s and there was a Rep. Louis Charbonnet, is he related, maybe her father? He was a good Representative, had good sense about him in joint committee.

Her father was a builder per her website.

She's got my vote. Period.

Remember, we don't vote red 81-85% of the time. 85% blind following of the right can't be wrong because we are the best and always right huh?!

White flight to Livingston and Ascension parish has pretty much ensured BR will keep electing SWB types too. South BR and the northern parts of the parish aren't enough to offset the people that left EBRP or the state altogether
And they keep following y'all there anyways, so where are you gonna keep running? Just learn to live with people as opposed to be so "disgusted" to live by your American brother and sisters
