I'm sure he has a Chief of Staff that would take over on that day so it's not like he's just going to head to his car while everybody is flipping out, looking for orders. That part would be seamless.

My guess is the Pemtagon can remove him. My theory is that he made it very clear that he did not want to and would not serve under President Trump. The Pentagon said "That's fine, as soon as he sworn in you can leave."

Sounds like Obama creating a problem for trump to have to deal with. Make him find someone else quickly. I guess trump could issue an order preemptively reappointing him at 12:01 and let that be that.

If that's the case and that sounds feasible...why do all the articles on this insinuate the Commander thinks it was a mystery? IOW's the media would be on this like white on rice--as a feel good gotcha towards Trump. Saying, no one likes him blah blah blah; if it were as simple as what you said.

The chain of custody ends at 12:01 and staff members all lose their jobs at that time. This doesn't seem like a strange event. At 12:01 the nuclear football is turned over and they are all basically unemployed. I watched a tv show on this 2 days ago.
