Don't let the door hit them in the arse on the way out.

This. What in the hell do they have to negotiate with?

I'm all for taxing remittances. Illegals typically pay little to no income taxes

I know that for some of you youngsters, travelers checks are relics from the era of cassette tape players, but do you even understand how they are bought and how they work? Have you ever used one?
Kindly explain how Uncle Sam would ever know who you wrote the check to or where it ended up.
Let's start with I'm not arguing with you. This is a legitimate question. You ever try to use a traveler's check in the last 5 years? They are so unknown they've lost liquidity because of stupid clerks. It's kind of funny. They are good as cash and no one will take them.

Exactly...
Leverage. We have it all, they have none.
They're bringing a switchblade to a gun fight.

Impose a automatic IRS withdrawal tax of 18% on all Western Union wires into Mexico.

A Mexican, An Iraqi and DJT were walking the beaches when they came across a lamp. DJT picked it up, cleans the sand off of it and a geni appears.
The geni says "thank you for setting me free. As a gift I will grant you each a life changing wish".
The Iraqi speaks up 1st and says "I wish you would send all Muslims safely back to their homeland".
"Done!" Replied the geni.
The Mexican says "I too wish you would round up all the Mexicans and safely send them back to their homeland."
"Granted!" replied the geni.
DJT then says "let me see if I correctly understand the first 2 wishes. You're sending all the Muslims and mexicans back to their countries?"
"Correct! Now what is your wish?"
"Hellllll, just give me a keg of beer because life ain't gonna get any better than this!"

The US exports around $300B to Mexico. US imports total more than that and a trade war with Mexico would disrupt many US supply chains.
Mexico also has a high number of free trade agreements which has spurred significant investment by foreign entities in manufacturing to serve many of these markets.

It's CNN, so it's probably alternative facts.
Or josh taking his typical license with the thread title. The report I heard a few hours ago was the if Trump announced he was proceeding with the wall, the Mexican president would likely cancel his scheduled trip to Washington.

TSA really has no legal means to seize the money but I wouldn't trust Mexican officials on the other end of the flight not to take you into the back room with a suitcase full of cash.
Customs can seize any amount over 10k.

Also they've changed their minds on not attending the meeting

oo high and they start finding alternatives where we get $0 of it.
The idea is to bleed them to get a cut of what they're sending, not kill Western Union.
They would switch to bitcoin
As a matter of fact it might not be a bad idea to put a little free money in bitcoins just in case.

Well, Mexico just got their response about walking away.

of jobs and companies lost. If Mexico is unwilling to pay for the badly needed wall, then it would be better to cancel the upcoming meeting.

Safe to say you don't know what a free trade agreement is.

However, one of the key drivers of manufacturing growth in Mexico is the country's expansive free trade agreements, which have completely transformed its economy and industry. In fact, The Observatory of Economic Complexity reported Mexico is currently the 15th largest export economy in the world and in 2013, the country exported $379 billion worth of goods and imported a total of $355 billion.
As ProMexico pointed out, Mexico boasts a network of 13 FTAs with 45 different counties, 32 Reciprocal Investment Promotion and Protection Agreements with 33 countries, 9 trade agreements within the framework of the Latin American Integration Association

Tariffs and trade
Why are so many non-U.S. automakers choosing Mexico? It's not just low wages, though Mexican auto workers make about 18 percent of what U.S. counterparts do, saving $600 on assembling a midsize Ford Fusion, according to the CAR. The real key is having free trade deals with more of the rest of the world than the United States, Swiecki said. On a Fusion sent to Europe, just the tariff difference from producing in Mexico saves Ford $2,500, while on a more expensive BMW or Audi, the difference is even more. And labor cost savings don't rise much as the cars get more expensive, but the potential gains from avoided export taxes do, he said.
That pushes many (but not all) automakers into a decision to build cheap cars in Mexico, where the labor savings are a bigger part of the price. Larger cars and trucks bound for U.S. consumers get made in the United States, and makers of cars headed for South America or Europe, at any price point, have a built-in reason to pick Mexico.

United States: US$309.2 billion (81.2% of total Mexico exports)
I think they care a whole bunch about what we do. If we want them to pay for the wall, they will pay for the wall.
